fresheye DESIGN, LLC HOME OFFICE CLIENTS JEFF & SUSAN PROJECT DETAILS APRIL 1, 01 Jeff and Susan are a working couple that share time between the office and working from home. They need a designated place to work without the distractions of the house. This main floor x foot space is currently not being used to its full potential making it the right space to set up a home office. The couple indicated a preference for transitional, eclectic, and modern styles and like creatively mixing materials and forms. Their color palette ranges from subtle to bold. CONCEPT ONE SUMMARY: eclectic/modern style Concept One focuses on your eclectic/modern style preferences, creating a space that is clean and well organized, yet warm and inviting, using a mix of materials for a modern feel. Starting with a light beige wall and a beautiful rug we built a room with warm wood tones, black accents, and interesting art for a bold finish to the design. I have included in this concept two work table options, rectangular and round. Both will fit in the space and provide seating for two people to work simultaneously. You will also see two rug examples, one with a larger pattern and a more subtle one with a small overall pattern. The rug you choose will add another layer to the space. Either style rug will work in the space, you the client can consider your preferences as you review the concept and begin looking for the perfect rug. The credenza and bookcase provide plenty of storage. A printer could go on either, if needed, and the closet is another area that could house shelving should you require more storage.

1 DESIGN CONCEPT OPTION ONE - ROUND WORK TABLE WINDOW This design calls for a light beige wall as shown below. The room has existing hardwood flooring, perfect for this home office design. I suggest removal of the existing curtains and replacing them with a wood blind for a clean modern home office look. WALL COLOR FLOORING WINDOW TREATMENT DOOR CLOSET 1 HIGH WINDOW Light Beige Paint N/A Keep existing hardwood flooring. Wood Blinds 4 OPTION - RECTANGLE WORK TABLE WINDOW DOOR CLOSET 1 4 HIGH WINDOW 1Anchor the room with a large rug. Both the large graphic pattern or a smaller overall pattern can work with this concept plan. The key is choosing a rug in colors that work with the space and keep to the modern/eclectic style of the room. Because you like to mix styles and create interest this leaves a lot of room to find a rug that you love.
DESIGN CONCEPT1 4A large art piece on the wall near the work desk completes that wall and adds a lot of impact to the room. Be sure you select something large, the wall commands a piece of substantial size. ROUND OR RECTANGLE Either shape table can be used as your work table. The choice comes down to your preference when you are purchasing. This desk lamp has a long, adjustable arm to illuminate the whole workspace, important if two people are going to work at the table. This desk chair has great lines and angles. It would work perfectly with either table and is small enough to allow for two to work together at the table.
1 DESIGN CONCEPT This 4 inch wide metal bookcase provides alto of storage for books, baskets, objects of interest. It could hold a small printer if needed. Hang another large piece of artwork on the left wall as you enter the room. This too should be large scale. I love the bold black and white as it is completely different from the other large canvas yet very complimentary. The dual woods used in this credenza make this furniture piece stand out. It is unique and keeps the room lighter with the warm toned front face. Providing a lot of storage, this credenza is not only practical but beautifully finishes off the back wall behind the work table. A great sculptural lamp, using materials that compliment the furnishings, provides ambient lighting to the space.
A standing floor lamp provides task lighting for the accent chair. Hang a framed piece of art in the back corner of the room to finish off the area behind the chair. The leather and wood combination used in this accent chair works so well with the other furnishings and provides a comfortable place to read and relax. A small metal side table by the accent chair provides a place to set things. I kept it light and airy to not add extra weight to the room. It does not take away from, nor dominate, the beauty of the chair.

CONCEPT TWO SUMMARY: eclectic/modern style Concept Two, again, focuses on your eclectic/modern style preferences, creating a space that is clean and well organized, yet warm and inviting, using a mix of materials for a modern feel. Starting with a bright white wall and a colorful rug we built a room with contrasting light wood, black accents, distressed leather and large color saturated art for a bold finish to the design. The corner work table is an efficient way to provide seating for two people to work simultaneously and keep the space more open in the center. There is a unique industrial feel from the credenza which provides ample storage for books and objects of interest. A 1 inch wide bookcase in the corner gives you more shelf space and adds a taller element to the room. A printer could go on either, if needed, and the closet is another area that could house shelving should you require more storage.

DESIGN CONCEPT WINDOW This design calls for a bright white wall as shown below. The room has existing hardwood flooring, perfect for this home office design. I suggest removal of the existing curtains and replacing them with a wood blind for a clean modern home office look. DOOR CLOSET 1 HIGH WINDOW WALL COLOR FLOORING WINDOW TREATMENT White Paint N/A Keep existing hardwood flooring. Light Birch or Maple Wood Blinds 4 1A x foot rug with a punch of color that coordinates with the accent chair and light woods adds some fun as you enter the room. This overall pattern is not overwhelming and the color palette is not too bold. It is clean and modern.
DESIGN CONCEPT 4A large bold canvas hung above the work table completes that wall and is an important element to the room. It creates wow factor against a pure white wall. A smaller art piece on the wall to the left of the work table finishes off the corner. This table lamp provides good task lighting. I would purchase a pair for each arm of the table. This distressed leather chair adds another texture to the space while providing comfortable seating, something important to consider when you are purchasing. This corner unit provides plenty of workable space for two. The light maple top keeps this room light and bright and the combination of black metal and maple wood looks great against a white wall.
DESIGN CONCEPT Place another large piece of art above the credenza that is a different medium or style than the other large piece above the work table. This mid-century modern lamp pulls color in from the rug and art and adds a fun punch of bold color. A 1 inch wide bookcase in metal is light and airy in the corner providing more storage and display for interesting objects. A small graphic print between the door and closet gives that wall a little something to enjoy as you come and go. A standing floor lamp provides task lighting for the accent chair. This modern chair pulls in the maple wood of the work table and provides a relaxation area in the space for reading or a place for a visitor to sit. Select an interesting credenza to both hold storage and create interest in how you display your materials. Baskets for papers, objects of interest, books, supplies can all look great if organized aesthetically in a unit with glass doors. If display is not for you select a credenza with solid doors.
