Use of any other voltage will likely damage the unit and void the warranty Marking by the CE symbol indicates compliance of this device with the EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and LVD (Low Voltage Directive) standards of the European Community This product must be returned to the separate col lec tion system for electronic products. Do not dis po se this product together with general household waste.

Congratulations! Thank you for selecting the DLS AMPLIFIER ONE as a part of your music system. When we designed this amplifier, we decided to enter with A Big Bang. This amplifier has a hightech interior, but a no-nonsense, user-friendly exterior. The amplifier has been designed and assembled by highly skilled DLS craftsmen to offer state-ofthe-art high-end performance in a luxury elegant package. We have spared no effort to ensure that it is one of the finest two-channel integrated amplifiers available in its class. We hope you enjoy listening to the AMPLIFIER ONE as much as the pride we have taken in creating this audio product. Before setting up your AMPLIFIER ONE, please read this manual thoroughly to assure yourself with its features. Unpacking The DLS AMPLIFIER ONE should be removed from its box with care. The following accessories should be included inside the box together with your AMPLIFIER ONE: 1. R4U remote control 2. Two AAA batteries 3. AC power cable 4. This owner s manual As soon as the amplifier is safely removed from it s box, perform a thorough physical inspection and report any damage to your dealer immediately. We suggest that you keep all of the original packaging material, storing it in a safe, dry place in the event that you need to transport the amplifier. Please write the serial number of the AMPLIFIER ONE (on rear panel) in the space provided below for future reference: Serial No: Date of purchase: Dealers name: Quick setup - Carefully unpack your AMPLIFIER ONE. - Connect your input source to the amplifier. - Connect your loudspeakers to outputs connectors properly. - Connect the AC cable to the amplifier and to an AC wall outlet. Make sure you connect to the proper voltage marked on your amplifier. - Set the main switch (at the back panel on the amplifier) to ON. - Wait during the Warming-up period is ready (approx. 12-15sek.). - Push the Standby button (on the front pa nel) to ON. - Choose the input source at the left side on the front panel, with the rotary source control. NOTE: The amplifier need a BURN-IN period for approx. 400 hours. (for more information read the Introduction on page 2). 1

Introduction A BURN-IN or BREAK-IN period is required before the amplifier will reach its max i mum sonic potential. The performance of your AMPLIFIER ONE will continue to improve during the first 400 hours of listening. A Burn-in period is required for the numerous high quality electronic parts used in this integrated amplifier. We recommend the amplifier to be left on, or in Standby mode at all times, especially during the first 5-6 weeks of operation, in order to speed up the BURN-IN pro cess. The amplifier should not be switched off by using the main switch at the rear panel, unless it will be out of use for a significant period of time during vacations etc. Installation and Placement The AMPLIFIER ONE requires reasonable ventilation to maintain an optimum and consistent operating tem pe ra tu re. As a result, it should be placed in a location with empty space around it for proper heat dissipation. As well, it should be placed on a solid level surface. You should never place the amplifier too close to heat sources such as radiators, stoves, fireplaces or other heat-producing appliances, or inside a closed cabinet. Avoid placing the amplifier where it will be subjected to direct sunlight or extremely low temperature. Avoid placing the amplifier near electromagnetic fields, such as large power amplifiers etc. Placement of the unit near these fields can lead to problems with hum. NOTE: You should never place another component directly on top of this AMPLIFIER ONE. Cleaning To clean the AMPLIFIER ONE, use only a soft tissue. Never apply abrasive cleaners to the surfaces of the unit. At no time should liquid cleaners be applied directly to the AMPLIFIER ONE, as direct application of liquids may result in damage to electronic components within the unit. 2

Front panel controls On the front panel you have two rotary controls and one push button. These three controls let you operate your AMPLIFIER ONE in daily use, or if you prefer, use the remote control R4U which is included. 1. Standby Press this push button and the amplifier will turn on. The display will show input source and amplifier level. Push the button once more and the amplifier will go back into Standby mode. The display will now be dark. For best performance, the AMPLIFIER ONE should be left on, or in the Standby mode at all times. When in Standby mode all audio circuitry remains powered up to maintain optimal performance. When switching back from Standby to the on mode, Input and Volume level settings will be memorized from the previous listening session. 2. Source Use the left rotary control to select the input source. The AMPLIFIER ONE has five inputs: 1 pair balanced (XLR), and 4 pair unbalanced (RCA). If you want, you can rename the input names in the display More about this under chapter 5, Input Settings. 3. Display In normal mode the display shows selected input and volume level. In setting mode the display will show actual status of the settings. 4. Volume Use the right side rotary control to set output level (from mini mum 0, to maximum 85). 1 2 3 4 3

Rear panel connections 1. Mains Power Input and Fuse Plug the AC cord firmly into the AC jacket. Make sure you connect to the proper voltage marked on your amplifier. Connect the male end directly to an AC wall outlet. Avoid use of an extension cord or power split since these often degrade sound quality The mains power switch turns the Amplifier totally off. In the fuse box you will also find a spare main fuse. Please check that it is the same value before switching fuse. 2. Balanced Inputs Intended to be used if your main source has XLR-outputs. If your source/sources are not equipped with XLR-outputs, please use the line inputs with RCA-connectors. 3. Unbalanced Inputs Line: 1, 2, 3 and Tape Each input has the same input sensitivity and impedance. They are compatible with any typical analogue line level source: CD, DVD, MD, Laserdisc, VCR, DA-converter, Tape deck or phono preamplifier. 4. Tape Out Fixed Level Output for external equipment. 5. Pre Out If you want to use your AMPLIFIER ONE as a pre-amp, just connect your power amplifier to the Pre Out with RCA connectors. 6. Output Connectors Speaker connectors. Marked + (Red) and (Black). Connect to the corresponding connectors on your loudspeakers. 6 5 4 3 2 1 4
