Besto supplies two main categories of personal rescue aids: Buoyancy Aids The wearer must be in good condition or conscious to maintain the correct position in the water (airways clear of the water). In other words, action is required on the part of the wearer in the case of an emergency. This type of buoyancy aid helps the wearer to float it is not a lifejacket. Lifejackets Lifejackets ensure that the wearer will assume the correct position in the water without action on the part of the wearer even in case of unconsciousness. These lifejackets are available in both inflatable and solid foam designs. Inflatable: Buoyancy is obtained by gas inflation. Solid foam: Buoyancy is obtained by a foam filling. The 150N lifejackets are designed to turn an unconscious user onto his/her back to keep the airways clear of the water. Lifejacket 275N EN 399 / ISO 12402-2 Ideal for use with heavy, waterproof clothing at or on the sea in extremely heavy weather conditions. Safe for use in the case of unconsciousness under almost all conditions. INFLATABLE Watersports & Leisure Besto inflatable jackets Quality / Safety All Besto inflatable jackets are certified the latest CE ISO standards. Besto inflatable jackets are fully manufactured in the EU and under one roof, from cutting the fabric to full assembly. Besto uses superior materials only. All jackets are 100% subjected to a pressure test and final inspection prior to leaving the factory to assure optimal quality and safety. Re-inspection All jackets must be re-inspected once every other year (or yearly, if used professionally). Besto recommends annual service to be done! The latest inspection date and name of the inspection station are printed on the label near the mechanism. Besto has a designated inspection room and uses calibrated tools and original parts. The routine at re-inspection includes:» a 16-hour pressure test.» replacement of o-rings, melting capsules, etc.» inspection of any damaged straps, fasteners, etc. After inspection, the jacket is stamped with the inspection date and the name of the inspection station and an inspection certificate is forwarded to you. How they operate Inflatable lifejackets have an inflation valve either automatic or manual connected to an airtight blad der. To operate the manual valve you simply pull the toggle on the right hand side of the jacket downwards with a jerk and the bladder will start to inflate immediately. The automatic lifejacket will operate and inflate once it has been immersed in the water for three seconds. The automatic can be operated manually and both types can be inflated orally by the tube. The oral tube is used to deflate the lifejacket. N.B! After gas inflation the lifejacket must be rearmed. Inside the lifejacket you will find instructions as to which rearming kit to use (see also page 40 and 41). Instructions to complete the re-arming procedure are included with our re-arming kits.
