Operational instruction for the heating panels Many thanks for choosing an esmart Savings heating panel. Please take the time to read this instruction manual carefully before installing or operating these esmart Savings heating panels. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Please keep this instruction booklet as a reference, and if you need to contact us, it has all our contact details on the last page. 3

1. General Product Information 1.1 General information about Infrared Heating Flat panels are direct heating systems that use the principle of heat radiation (infrared). They use very little energy in order to achieve a pleasant, comfortable indoor climate. The heat conductor in the panels is carbon fibre. Panels are very efficient at converting electricity into warmth. The special coating of the surface has been optimised to achieve maximum heat emission in a wave length of 7 to 10µm. You heat with Infrared Direct just like the sun warms up the earth Infrared brings this warmth into your house and reduces your heating costs. This warmth is beneficial for everyone, but especially for old people, children and newborn babies. It is very effective for people who have limited mobility. With the low integral power of the individual panel and an efficient arrangement in the room, Infrared Direct heating systems can achieve savings of up to 30%. In transitional periods, this can be up to 60%. 1.2 General Information about esmart intrared Heating Infrared panels can be used in various rooms and surrounding (see point 1.3 for individual uses). According to the surroundings and the way you want our rooms to be heated there are various models that would be best for you (please contact your specialist dealer about optimal models). However, with all models and set-ups you must comply with the safely guidelines (see point 3.1). Infrared Direct panels heat up in only a few minutes (about 5 to 10 minutes). Should you not be comfortably warm right away, leave the heating element on for longer, as it is possible that during the initial warm-up the cold objects (furniture, walls, ceiling, floor etc.) need to be warmed first. As soon as those solid objects are warm, the comfortable warmth will be distributed around the whole room and you can reduce the running time of the heating element to a minimum. That way you are also contributing greatly to protecting the environment. Depending on which Infrared panel model you have chosen, the surface will heat up from 80 to 125⁰C. All Infrared Direct heating panels are equipped with temperature sensors which regulate the surface of the appliance in case it overheats. 4

1.3 Various applications and models 1.3.1 Ceiling Panels In order to warm up a room to the best of their ability, Infrared panels can be mounted onto the ceiling. This allows them to work to the best of their ability and can save you space. Infrared Direct panels are light enough to be integrated in the existing ceiling system. However, please notice the detailed assembly notes in point 3.1, if you wish to do this. 1.3.2 Wall Panels esmart infrared wall panels can be used as additional or main heating for a room. The flat and light structure, as well as the various surface designs, mean that the panels are space saving and useable for almost all walls depending on the position of the wall mounting, the Infrared Direct wall panels have virtually no convection heat rate. The panels direct the heat outwards from the front of the panel and not the back. Whilst the back of the panel may get warm if you move your hand a centimeters from the back of the panel you will feel no heat. This is because all of the heat energy is being directed forwards. 5

2. Safety Guidelines before First Use 2.1 General Safety Guidelines All esmart infrared heating panels should be used solely as heating elements. Alternate usage can pose a significant risk for people, animals and the environment. Infrared heating panels should not be used by people with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities, or by those without understanding of their nature, unless they have guardian or carer, and they have received guidance about the use of the appliance. All heating panels should to be kept away from children. Where this is not possible, children should be supervised at all times. esmart infrared heating panels are not suitable for use outdoors, in wet conditions or underwater. With all Infrared Direct heating panels, it is essential to pay careful attention to the following assembly instruction (see point 3). All esmart infrared heating element have integrated safely switches which switch off automatically if the heating element has been used incorrectly (for example, it could overheat if the heating element has been covered). By unplugging the heating panels from the mains and then waiting for about 10 to 15 minutes, the safety switch will be deactivate itself and the appliance will be operational again. 2.2 Special Safety Guidelines WARNING: DO NOT COVER! In order to avoid any overheating, you must NOT cover the appliance. While in use the heating element gets hot (depending on model up to 125⁰C). Touching it could lead to serious burns. All esmart infrared heating elements come equipped with cable please ensure that nobody can trip over the cable. A room thermostat can be used via an optional adaptor. Protect the appliance against overload with a fuse and only use the appliance as indicated on the nameplate. Do not use the Infrared Direct heating panel if the power cable or plug shows signs of damage. Please check this before every use. Do not pull or yank the power cable. Do not chafe the cable on edges or wedge the cable in. Neither the cable nor the plug should be repaired or replaced by anyone other than a qualified electrician. In case of damage please contact the manufactures or customer services. Never immerse the Infrared Direct heating panels in water or expose them to water. DO NOT touch the heating element, especially if you have wet hands. Do not use this appliance near a bath tub, a shower or swimming pool. The heating panel is only to be used once firmly mounted (for more information see point 3.1). If the heating panel or the power cable is damaged, disconnect the power supply immediately and keep it safe (see point 8 for further information about warranty process) 6

To avoid damage and accidents do not open the equipment yourself. If the appliance has opened by non-specialists, warranty claims will not be granted. 3. Tips for Assembly and Use 3.1 Assembly Tips esmart infrared panels must only be mounted with the original supplied mounts (aluminium fitting on the back of the panel as well as supplied screws). Panels that have been mounted without using the supplied fittings are not covered by their warranty and we will not be liable for consequential damages. If you must use your own fittings, then the following information should be helpful. Please note that we will not be liable for any subsequent damages caused by use of fittings other than those supplied with the panels. 3.1.1 Information For Use of Your Own Fittings Please ensure that infrared panels are not covered or overlapped by more than 1.5mm. The inside measurements of the frame should be 1.5mm bigger than the heating element, because the panel will expand with heat. Please ensure that the frame can withstand the weight of the heating panel (for weight details of the esmart infrared panels please check point 4 for technical details). It is essential that you take into consideration the weight of the frame itself. The original suspension device (aluminium fitting on the back of the panel, as well as the supplied screws for wall or ceiling installation) only holds an additional weight of 3kg. Make sure that if you use your own frame it does not weigh more than 3kg. Take special care to ensure ventilation of the heating panel (alumunium plate). To do this you must provide holes for air circulation in your choice of frame. No holes should be drilled into the heating panel. Do not use frames which have not been tested at a temperature of at least 125⁰C. Also make sure that any possible paint or wall covering has been safeguarded at a temperature of at least 125⁰C. 7

3.1.2 General Assembly Tips Depending on the application (see point 3.1) different types of assembly are intended. All esmart infrared panels have an original suspension device (aluminium fitting on the back of the panel as well as supplied screws for wall or ceiling installation). Make sure that the main plug is disconnected during assembly. Do NOT install the appliance while it is switched on. Do not make holes into the heating panel. If you have made holes, for whatever reason, do not use the appliance. Please contact the manufacturers or the specialist dealer where you bought the appliance. Please note the detailed installation instructions to ensure an easy and problem-free assembly. Should you use the appliance in a children s room or a room accessible to children, make sure the appliance is installed out of their reach. Distance to the back: esmart infrared panels cause convection heating (i.e. they warm the air) at the rear of the device. To ensure proper ventilation, please make sure that the distance to from the back of the panel to the wall or ceiling is at least 25mm. If you use the standard suspension fittings you will always ensure the correct distance. Should you use another system instead of the original suspension system, your warranty will not be valid and we will not be liable for any consequential damage. Distance to the front: Infrared Direct panels only emit infrared radiation (radiated heat) from the front. Make sure that there is a minimum distance of 25cm from the front to any other objects. If the appliance is installed in public rooms, make sure you adhere to the appropriate public health and safety regulations. Do not install the heating panel near a shower, bath or a swimming pool. Make sure the heating panel cannot be touched by anyone who is in a bath or shower. If the installation is in a wet room, it must be done by a qualified specialist and according to all public health and safety regulations. Do not mount the heating element immediately underneath or in front of a power socket. Make sure that you can reach the mains plug after the panel is mounted and that it can be pulled out immediately if necessary. If you connect the heating panel to a fixed electrical installation, you need to provide a separator according to electrical regulations to ensure complete separation. These connection works must only be done by a qualified electrician. 3.1.3 General Tips for Positioning If the panels are incorrectly positioned then the infrared radiation will not reach certain areas of the room, producing a shadow effect. Optimal positioning can avoid this shadow effect. For more detailed information about an optimal position for your panels please ask your specialist dealer where you bought the Infrared Direct panel. 8

3.2 Tips for First Use Please note the tips from point 3.1 regarding the installation. Now connect the heating panel to a correctly installed power socket (please note the above mentioned safety instructions). You can now use your appliance. The heating-up period will take about 5 to 10 minutes. Should you not be comfortably warm right away, leave the heating element on for a longer period, as it is possible that during the initial period the cold objects (furniture, walls, ceiling, floor etc. need to be warmed up first. You can use a room thermostat, timer or programmed to control this. 3.3 Handling Tips Never leave items of clothing or similar materials on the heating elements as these causes a risk of overheating and fire. There is a sign which has been attached to the front of the panel which must not be removed before use. There may be some noise during the heating up of cooling down of the heating panel. This is entirely normal. The heating element gets hot during use. Touching it could result in serious burns. All esmart infrared heating panels are equipped with temperature sensors which will regulate the surface of the appliance in case of overheating. If you do not use the heating panel for a long period, please disconnect the mains plug. Make sure that the surface of the heating element always stays clean. Please note the more detailed tips from point 3.4. 9

3.4 Tips for Cleaning and Maintenance esmart infrared panels do not required maintenance. Should you notice any irregularities, please pull out the mains plug and immediately contact the specialist dealer where you bought the panel. If you wish to clean the panel, the best way is as follows: You must unplug the mains plug before cleaning. The heating element is very hot after use (depending on model up to 125⁰C, presenting a danger of burns). Before you clean the heating element, leave it to cool down (for at least 15 minutes). Never immerse the heating element into water of spray it for cleaning. Never use a wet cloth. Only ever use a dust cloth or a slightly damp cloth. Make sure the heating element is absolutely dry before use. Do not use an abrasive cleaning product, other sharp products or rough cloths. Wall heaters with images should only be cleaned with a dry cloth. Any dust which has accumulated on top of ceiling panels can be vacuumed. 3.5 Tips for Repairs If you notice any irregularities you should always contact your specialist dealer and do not attempt your own repairs. In the event of a malfunction, pull the mains plug immediately. Stop using the panel immediately if the appliance is damaged, especially if it affects the cable, the case or the heating element. We also ask you to please read under point 8 the detailed warranty instructions. Do not remove the name plate and warning sticker. The information on the name plate is important for warranty. 4. Technical Data The following information is general information for the GNIR series. Please note the further information about the performance, size as well as surface temperature on the sticker on the back of the panel. Model Number Voltage Performance Frequency (Hz) Operating Temperature GNIR series 230V 220 550w 50/60 Hz 80 125 C Size cm 30 90 x 60-120 Weight 3kg to 6kg 10

5. For The Sake Of the Environment Do not simply throw away the packing material. Cardboard packaging can be recycled. Do not let children get hold of the plastic film or packaging. Dispose of the protective film properly. Do not dispose of the heating element or parts of it via the normal household rubbish collection, but take it to a recycling centre for disposal of electrical appliances.
