KTH in Stockholm KTH was founded in 1827 and has remained the largest of Sweden s technical universities. Since 1917, activities have been housed in central Stockholm in beautiful buildings which are currently protected as being of special historical interest. Associated colleges are found at various places in the Stockholm surroundings Haninge, Södertälje, Flemingsberg and Kista. KTH co-operates with Stockholm University in Kista, the main Swedish resource centre of information technology, and in the AlbaNova Centre, with its departments of physics and biotechnology. 2

Organisation of education and research at KTH Schools KTH's activities are separated into different Schools. Each of these consists of a number of departments, centres of excellence and undergraduate study programmes. One special unit with School status is also included in their number. Bologna process at KTH 2007- Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Engineering are five-year courses, 300 credits Bachelor of Science in Engineering is a three-year course, 180 credits Diploma is a two-year course, 120 credits Master s degree (2 years) 120 credits Master s degree ( 1 year) 80 credits ECTS-grade: A, B, C, D, E, Fx, F ECTS-grading also for degree projects 6

Entrance to programmes at postgraduate(second) level, general degrees First level degree of at least three years duration. Bachelor or professional degree taking at least three years Or equivalent foreign degree taking at least three years In order to take individual courses at second level it is only necessary to have completed education at level one - a degree is not required 7
