Church Ministry Counselling Ministry doctor of ministry doctor of ministry Track: Pastoral Leadership Track: Pastoral Counselling The Doctor of Ministry (Pastoral Leadership) is designed to assist in increasing the competency of Christian leaders so that they can achieve excellence in their current and future ministries. This track contains two personal ministry courses, two courses relating to the project / dissertation, and three courses relating directly to pastoral ministry. The Pastoral Leadership track draws on the significant practical and pastoral experience of the seminary faculty and guest speakers, combined with their expertise in Bible, systematic theology, and practical theology. If you are seeking to hone your pastoral ministry skills in order to excel in service to the Kingdom of God, then we would invite you to consider the Doctor of Ministry program. The Doctor of Ministry (Pastoral Counselling) is designed to assist in increasing the competency of Christian leaders so that they can achieve excellence in their current and future ministries. Flexible delivery options, including summer & module courses are available. This track contains the two personal ministry courses, one course for writing the project / dissertation, and four courses relating directly to counselling ministry. MAsTER OF DIVINITY (PROFESSIONAL) M.A. IN COUNSELLING psychology Tracks: Biblical Languages, English Bible, Pastoral Counselling, Pentecostal Studies, Youth Ministry Studies The Master of Divinity program is the normal degree prerequisite for ordained pastoral ministry in the church. The Master of Divinity (Professional) program will equip students for vocational Christian service. Students can master of arts (christian studies) The Master of Arts (Christian Studies) is designed to improve your ability to serve Jesus Christ in the church and the world in a lay (or para-church) ministry. It will enable you to be a more effective disciple of Christ, in all spheres of life. The M.A. in Christian Studies will assist you in developing basic skills for studying the English M.A. in educational studies Major: Youth Ministry Studies choose between five different tracks. Graduates are functioning as pastors in various capacities in churches of many denominations in Canada and around the world. Bible, both for personal spiritual development and for lay ministry. This program gives you a high degree of freedom in putting together a program that best suits your needs and interests. This degree can be completed through a combination of online courses and campus study. The Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program is a distance education program that offers an additional year of focused study that deepens one s knowledge and therapeutic intervention skills. Students will complete their third year course work in modular courses offered in either Calgary or Otterburne and through online courses. These specialized courses include Psychology of Emotion, Psychopharmacology, Family Systems, Child and Adolescent Counselling, Gerontology, and Addictions. M.A. IN COUNSELLING Through the counselling program students gain the knowledge, confidence, and competency to integrate critically their Christian world view with mainstream counselling theories and practices to effectively counsel individuals, families, couples, and groups. This program includes a supervised internship of up to 250 hours which includes 120 hours of direct client contact. It is delivered in three different formats of education through our Otterburne Campus, our Calgary extension site at Counsellor training at Providence Seminary integrates the Christian worldview with best practices in the field of counselling psychology. The MA in Counselling Psychology meets the requirements to be an Associate Counsellor with the Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors (PACCC), and fulfills the academic requirements of the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Graduates of the M.A. in Counselling Psychology practice in various community and agency settings. Ambrose Seminary, and our distance education format including online and week-long modules. The MA in Counselling degree meets the requirements to be an Associate Counsellor with the Professional Association of Canadian Christian Counsellors (PACCC). Graduates of the M.A. in Counselling are working in various counselling agencies, rehabilitation centers, church-based counselling centers, crisis stabilization units, private and community mental health centers, and woman s shelters. The Youth Ministry Studies major is designed to prepare men and women to serve effectively in occupational youth ministry in any church or para-church setting. This major will enable graduates to discern the call of God for their lives, understand the nature of the adolescent transition, engage in youth ministry as practical theology, build a youth ministry program based on contextual perspectives, and learn introductory skills for effective counselling. Educational Ministry Academic Ministry M.A. in educational studies Majors: Educational Studies, Student Development, TESOL, TTESOL The Educational Studies major is for people who are training for professional ministry positions within the church or para-church organizations. The Student Development major is specifically for those who wish to work in higher education in student services including but not limited to: Admissions, Residential Life and Career Services. The TESOL major is for those who wish to serve the church by teaching English to speakers of other languages in conventional and non-conventional settings. The TTESOL major is for those who are wishing to train other teachers to teach English to speakers of other languages. master of divinity (HONOURS) The Master of Divinity (Honours) is designed for those students who anticipate future doctoral studies. This program requires students to write a scholarly thesis in an area of their choice under the supervision of a faculty Master of Arts (Theological Studies) mentor. Students are closely guided in the choice of electives. The Honours program has been successful in preparing graduates for further academic studies in Bible and Theology as well as for pastoral ministry. Global Ministry M.A. in global studies Majors: Missiology, TESOL, TTESOL Tracks: Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology The Master of Arts (Theological Studies) is designed to ground you in the reliability of scripture, so that you have a framework of faith and knowledge within which to face the diverse proposals that you will encounter as you proceed to further study. The Systematic Theology track is designed to prepare you for a teaching ministry or for doctoral research in a theological area. The Biblical Studies track gives you intensive work in a specific area of biblical studies in preparation for a teaching ministry or doctoral research. Students may focus on the Old Testament or the New Testament. Our graduates can be found in the teaching field, doing research, or writing books. What we once called mission fields are today part of the global church, and traditional paradigms of mission are no longer adequate. The Missiology major provides the basic theoretical and practical training for those serving as cross-cultural witnesses for Jesus Christ around the world. The TESOL major is for people who desire to serve the church by teaching English to speakers of other languages in ecclesiastical or non-ecclesiastical settings. The TTESOL major is intended to teach others to train English teachers. graduate CERTIFICATES ONLINE PROGRAMS Applied Counselling Biblical Studies Church Ministry Christian Spirituality CAMPUS PROGRAMS Cross-Cultural Discipleship Providence Theological Seminary offers eight graduate certificate TESOL programs of which four programs, the Certificates in Applied Counselling, Biblical Studies, Church Ministry, and Christian Spirituality TTESOL can be completed entirely online. Theological Studies Graduate Certificate programs give you a basic overview of a seminary program as well as some more in-depth training and education. Our certificate programs range from 18-30 credit hours. Coursework successfully completed for the graduate certificates are transferable to other Providence Seminary degree programs. distance education Start your Providence degree from home, upgrade your education and take advantage of convenient delivery options. Students will work on the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing English. With its strong team of English teachers, the program offers small class sizes, personalized attention, a multi-cultural classroom, and the benefits of a safe and caring Christian community.
