Frequently asked questions 1. Why join RIC 2015? RIC is a great platform for you to learn, grow and gain new experiences. You will be able to build teamwork and bond with your team members. It is also an opportunity to overcome your fear such as speaking or debating in front of a crowd. You are also expected to think fast and to speak spontaneously as the time given to prepare for the debate is short. Given such circumstances, you will learn to read effectively, analyse and articulate relevant information quickly. 2. Your team does not know much about Risk. Would that put your team at a disadvantage? No. The competition is aimed at raising awareness of how risk is related to all aspects of business and our everyday lives. We are looking out for fresh perspectives from your team on your interpretation of risk, not just the textbook interpretation of risk. 3. What type of challenges would you be facing in this competition? Your team s cooperation and collaboration will be put to test. You are given only a certain amount of time to complete each round of the competition, therefore, a cohesive team that see eye to eye, be it in goal setting or mind-set, will have an upper hand against disunited team. Furthermore, information and reference from the internet is just a click away. Are you able to justify the quality and relevance of your information? Is your resources reliable? Creativity in your ideas are also encouraged. The RIC challenges you to be creative and think out of the box when applying your ideas in your answers. Innovation is needed to differentiate your business from competitors. Furthermore, understanding your ideas alone is not enough, you will need to convince your investors (which is the judges) on why your idea will work. RIC 2015 is free for participants, This competition is fully sponsored by Deloitte ERS and associated sponsors. 5. Can you change team members after registration? Yes, however only under special circumstances such as fatal illness, unavailability during the competition. 6. Can one of your team member withdraw from the competition? You need to find a replacement as teams need to be 4 members 7. How do you know if we have received your registration? You will receive an acknowledgement by email upon your registration. 8. Does the 10 pages of essay includes cover page, table of content, reference/bibliography, and appendix? No, the 10 pages of essay only include your proposed ideas and content to the questions given. 9. What is the presentation format of the essay? Font type: Arial, Font Size: 12, Line spacing: Double spacing, Margin: 1 / 2.54cm (Top, Bottom, Left, and Right) 10. Do you send your entry in Microsoft Word or PDF format? You will be competing with another 7 teams and you are expected to select 1 out of 3 questions and present your ideas in a week s time. In addition, your team will be sent to presentation and debate training workshops, prepared specially for you 13. Where is the venue of the training? The training will be held in Deloitte office in TTDI. The time is yet to be decided. 14. Can you bring your friend to the training? You are only allowed to attend the training with your team members. 22. What your team should expect after being a finalist? You will be competing with another team in a debate.
