Frequently Asked Questions Do I have to pay for the entire certificate program before classes begin? No. Course enrollment fees are paid on a quarter-byquarter basis. Where are classes held? Courses are presented online and in a hybrid format, which combines both classroom and online sessions. Traditional face-to-face classes are held in Westwood Village or in downtown L.A. Online courses can be accessed via the Internet using Blackboard as the delivery interface. When should I enroll? Enroll as soon as possible for each quarter s classes. Because of high demand, many courses fill early. Once full, enrollment in each class will be granted to waitlisted students only when a space is vacated. You will not be charged to be added to the waitlist. How long does it take to complete the certificate? The certificate can be completed in as little as 1 year (4 quarters), but students are allotted up to 3 years to complete the program requirements. What is an educational certificate? Educational certificates provide focused curriculum and training to prepare professionals to pursue a specific area of interest. While considered postbaccalaureate professional training, certificates are designed in content, focus, and presentation style to degree programs, with an added benefit of practical training. Students choose certificate programs to better prepare themselves to work in fast-evolving fields, boost their careers, or simply master a subject area in a comprehensive, wellarticulated way. UCLA Extension certificates are administered in accordance with the regulations of the Academic Senate of the University of California. Successful completion leads to the award of a Gold Seal certificate from UCLA Extension. What kind of professional experience do I need to apply? Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in the nonprofit sector, however 3 years is recommended. Students without the requisite professional experience may complete X 486.01 Introduction to Nonprofit Organizations to supplement a portion of their work experience.
