The symbol is usually used with a signal word (e.g., WARNING) which designates the degree or level of hazard seriousness. The signal word WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. The signal word NOTICE indicates a situation which can cause damage to the product, other personal property and/or to the environment, or cause the product to operate improperly. The combination of the safety alert symbol and signal word is used in safety messages throughout this manual. All safety messages that follow have WARNING level hazards. Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury. General Safety Messages Do not allow children to operate this Heater/Defroster. This Heater/Defroster is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Before each use, unwind the power cord to minimize the amount of heat that is generated by the power cord. A wound-up cord will cause the cord to become hotter than an unwound cord. This product is not recommended for use in your vehicle if the vehicle s heating system has malfunctioned. The cause of the vehicle s heating system malfunction may also cause the Heater/Defroster to malfunction. Keep the 12-volt DC adapter power cord away from the vehicle s controls. Do not use this Heater/Defroster for other purposes than its intended use. Electric Shock Hazards Never connect a damaged Heater/Defroster to a power supply. Only connect the Heater/Defroster to an approved 12-volt cigarette lighter/accessory socket rated at 15 amps or higher. Do not connect to a 6-volt or 24-volt power source. This product is not recommended for use in your vehicle if your vehicle s charging system is not working correctly. An irregular voltage output may cause excessive current draw, and could exceed 15 amps. Never operate the Heater/Defroster if any part of the Heater/Defroster is corroded or damaged. Never operate the Heater/Defroster around water or areas of high moisture. Never submerge the Heater/Defroster in water or any liquid. 2

Fire / Explosion Hazards Never operate the Heater/Defroster near flammable materials or flammable gases, vapors or fumes. Insert the 12-volt DC adapter power plug as far into the 12-volt DC cigarette lighter/accessory socket as possible. Twist the plug slightly to ensure good contact is made. Poor contact may damage the 12-volt DC adapter power plug and/or the Heater/Defroster, and result in poor performance and possibly a fire. Never allow the Heater/Defroster to be exposed to fire, direct flame or high-heat sources. Never block the Heater/Defroster air inlet vent/fan or heat outlet vent. Always operate the Heater/Defroster in a well-ventilated area. Never place objects or materials in the Heater/Defroster air inlet vent/fan or heat outlet vent. Never operate the Heater/Defroster while unattended. Secure the Heater/Defroster in a solid manner before operating in a permanent mount manner. Never allow the 12-volt DC adapter power cord to come near the heat outlet vent. Burn Hazards Never touch the Heater/Defroster vents when the Heater/Defroster is operating. Do not place any body part or any materials near or directly in front of the Heater/Defroster heat outlet vent when the Heater/Defroster is operating. All safety messages that follow have NOTICE level hazards. Failure to comply could result in personal property damage. Always turn the Heater/Defroster off and disconnect the 12-volt DC adapter power plug from the power supply when not in use. Do not disassemble the Heater/Defroster or remove any parts. This Heater/Defroster contains no serviceable or replaceable parts. Clean the Heater/Defroster regularly (see page 7 for care instructions). 3
