1 Area of applicability These safety instructions apply to the display and adjustment unit VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** according to the Certificate CSA 14.2662675 (certificate number on the type label) and to all instruments with the number of the safety instruction (48926) on the type label. 2 General information The display and adjustment unit VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** with flame-proof encapsulation "Ex-d" is used for remote adjustment and visualization of measured values in conjunction with a VEGA radar sensor VEGAPULS, a guided radar sensor VEGAFLEX or a pressure transmitter VEGABAR with certified flame-proof encapsulation "d". The VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** and the radar sensors VEGAPULS, guided radar sensors VE- GAFLEX or pressure transmitters VEGABAR communicate with each other via a BUS signal, the I 2 C-BUS. The display and adjustment module PLICSCOM is integrated in the display and adjustment unit VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V****. The VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** is suitable for applications in hazardous atmospheres of all combustible materials of explosion group IIA, IIB and IIC, for applications requiring EPL-Gb instruments, as well as for installations in Class I, II and III Division 1 Hazardous Locations The atmospheres can also be combustible gases, mists, vapours, dusts, fibers and flyings. If the VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** is installed and operated in hazardous areas, the general Ex mounting instructions IEC 60079-14, Canadion Electrical Code C22.1-12/NFPA70 - NEC, and these safety instructions must be observed. The operating instructions as well as the installation regulations or standards that apply for explosion protection of electrical systems must always be observed. The installation of explosion-endangered systems must always be carried out by qualified personnel. 3 Technical data Electrical data BUS power supply and signal circuit: (terminals 5, 6, 7, 8) U 6,4 V DC Um = 253 V AC/DC Pi 500 mw For connection to a VEGA sensor VEGAPULS, VEGAF- LEX or VEGABAR with certified flame-proof encapsulation "d" The BUS supply and signal circuits are galvanically separated from parts that can be grounded. 4 Application conditions Max. permissible ambient temperatures depending on temperature classes. Temperature class T6 T1-50 +60 C Permissible temperature on the electronics housing The application conditions during operation without explosive mixtures are mentioned in the operating instructions manuals. VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** 3
5 Protection against static electricity The VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** is provided with a caution label referring to the safety instructions in case of electrostatic charging during operation. Caution: Danger of electrostatic charging! Avoid friction No dry cleaning Do not mount in areas with flowing, non-conductive products 6 Installation The BUS supply and signal circuit between the VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** and a VEGA sensor VEGAPULS, VEGAFLEX or VEGABAR with certified flame-proof encapsulation "d" must be installed ungrounded. The required isolation voltage is > 500 V AC. 7 Grounding/Potential equalization The "Ex-d" housing must be grounded. The external or internal ground connection terminal on the housing of VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** serves for this purpose. 8 Material resistance The VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** must only be used in media against which the materials of the wetted parts are sufficiently resistant. 9 Ignition protection type flameproof enclosure Ex "d" The terminals for connecting to the operating voltage, i.e. signal circuits, are integrated in the connection compartment according to protection type flame-proof enclosure "d". The gaps between housing and cover as well as between threaded fitting and container are ignitionproof gaps. The "Ex-d" connection compartment is provided with a M20 x 1.5 or ½-14 NPT thread for connection to a certified "Conduit" system or for mounting a "Ex-d" cable entry certified according to IEC 60079-1. Cable entries of simple construction may not be used. Please take note of section 13.1 and 13.2 of IEC 60079-1. When connecting to a "Conduit" system, the associated sealing facility must be located directly on the "Ex-d" connection compartment. A certified "Ex-d" cable gland is automatically supplied with the delivery. It is suitable for insertion of armoured or unarmoured cables depending on the ordered version. The instructions in the document accompanying the respective cable gland must be observed. The "Ex-d" cable gland must be screwed tightly into the housing. The supplied cable gland is suitable for the housing temperature range mentioned in the VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V**** specification. If a different cable gland is used, the separately certified cable gland or the temperature classes on the electronics determines the maximum permissible ambient temperature on the housing. Before opening the lid of the "Ex-d" connection compartment or in case it is already open (e. g. during connection or service work), make sure that either the supply cable is completely voltage free or no explosive atmosphere is present. When wiring the connection line to the "Ex-d" connection compartment, it must be sufficiently 4 VEGADIS DIS81.CEIA/V****
secured against damage and in conformity with IEC 60079-14. The connection cables, the cable entries and the plugs or the pipeline sealing facilities must be suitable for the lowest ambient temperature. The cover of the "Ex-d" connection compartment must be screwed in completely before commissioning and secured by screwing out the lid locking screw all the way to the stop. Unused openings must be sealed according to IEC 60079-1 paragraph 11.9. The blind plug mounted at the factory (regardless of the type ordered) is certified as part of the "Exd" housing. If a closing screw other than the premounted one or the screw with article number 2.30690 is used, a suitable one certified according to IEC 60079-1 must be used.
