Compassed. Hebrews 12:1 1. There is no place we can go to without being witnessed (seen). C. Where are these witnesses? Hebrews 12:1 1. In the cloud of God. a. A cloud stayed with Israel for 40 years and lead them through the wilderness. Exodus 40:38 b. The cloud of the mercy seat. Leviticus 16:2 c. Jesus ascended to Heaven in a cloud. Acts 1:9 d. Jesus will return the second time to earth in a cloud. Revelation 1:7 2. This cloud would be in Heaven. Hebrews 12:1 B. Can those in Heaven see us on earth or do they just hear the report? 1. Did Abraham see the day of Jesus by faith only? 1) Abraham saw virgin birth of Jesus in the birth of Isaac. 2) Abraham saw Jesus crucified and raised by the sacrifice of Isaac. Hebrews 11:17-19 b. Jesus wrote how we would be saved before the foundation of the earth. 2. Finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2

At the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 b. A name above all names. 4. Enduring the hostility of sinners and did not become weary and discouraged. Hebrews 12:3 a. Endure hardness. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 b. Endure afflictions. 2 Timothy 4:2-8 c. Sufferings are not to be compared with the glory. Romans 8:18 F. Accept corrections. Hebrews 12:4-11 1. Yet... get ready for a difficult and hard race. Hebrews 12:4 2. Remember your training by God. Hebrews 12:5 a. Quotation from Proverbs 3:11. b. You become stronger. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 3. Ro. 14:19 I. Be watchful and not backslide. Hebrews 12:15-17 1. Looking diligently. Hebrews 12:15 a. Take the race very seriously. 2. Lest any man fail. Hebrews 12:15 a. Not fall from, but fail, come short of. 3. Grace of God. Hebrews 12:15 a. Christian virtures that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness, good will, loving-kindness, favour. 4. If you fail (come short) of the grace of God then: a. You could become bitter. Hebrews 12:15 1) A tongue of bitterness. James 3:8-18 b. You could be troubled. Hebrews 12:15 1) Slow to believe. Luke 24:36-39 c. You could be defiled. Hebrews 12:15 1) Your mind and conscience defiled. Titus 1:14-16 d. You could be a fornicator. Hebrews 12:16 1) As Sodom and Gomorrha. Jude 1:7 e. You could be a profane person. Hebrews 12:16 1) Show no difference between the unclean and clean. Ezekiel 22:26 2) An example is Esau. Hebrews 12:16 a) He found no place of repentance. Hebrews 12:17

Mount Sion (Zion)-Grace. Hebrews 12:22 B. Mount Sinai. Hebrews 12:18-21 1. The mount that might be touch. Hebrews 12:18 a. They were instructed not to touch it. Exodus 19:9-15 b. As Adam and Eve were not to eat of the tree. Genesis 2:16-17 2. The mount burned with fire and the sound of a trumpet. Hebrews 12:18-19, Exodus 19:16-19 3. The voice of God was heard. Hebrews 12:19-21 a. They did not want God to speak to them. Exodus 20:18-19 4. Mount Sinai is symbolic of the law, bondage. Galatians 4:21-25 a. Under the law you are guilty before God. Romans 3:19 b. You cannot be justified by the law. Romans 3:20, Galatians 3:10-13 II. We have come to Mount Sion (Zion)-Grace. Hebrews 12:22-29 A. Mount Sion (Zion) is symbolic of the bride of Christ. Revelation 21:2, Revelation 21:9-10

The church of the Firstborn. Hebrews 12:23 G. Jesus the mediator of the new covenant. Hebrews 12:24 H. The blood of sprinkling. Hebrews 121:24 III. Obey Jesus! Hebrews 12:25-27 A. The Old Testament Saints were punished. Hebrews 12:25 B. We will have greater punishment. Hebrews 12:25 C. God shook the earth in the past. Hebrews 12:26, Exodus 19:18 D. God will destroy this earth and solar system in the future. Hebrews 12:27 1. God will move the earth out its place. Isaiah 13:13 2. The earth will burn up. 2 peter 3:10-11 3. No place found for the earth. Revelation 20:11 4. The earth will pass away. Revelation 21:1 IV. We have a kingdom that cannot be moved. Hebrews 12:28-29 A. Our God is a consuming fire.
