Logistics This design package is delivered onsite during the requirements and data analysis stages; documentation of the design can be performed on or off site. For morning design sessions, the room should be equipped with a LCD projector and a whiteboard with dry-erase markers, and a printer should be available. It is recommended that participants bring laptops with internal network connectivity to retrieve additional documentation as required. For afternoon documentation preparation, the consultant should have a work area such as an office; alternatively, documentation can be prepared off site. Format Daily interdisciplinary design sessions held at the customer s location. Morning sessions are spent in design with your team; in general, afternoon sessions are spent on producing design documentation. Daily Agenda Day 1 Activity - Complete design questionnaire and discuss details of existing environment and project objectives. - Required personnel are the UNIX, AD, and network staff. Provisioning, Security, Audit, and Project Management staff can optionally attend. 2 - Design review and selecting Active Directory data storage structure Note:The /etc/passwd and /etc/group and /etc/sudoers files will also need to be made available for review by the assigned senior consultant, with an objective of identifying accounts that will not be part of the design. - Required personnel are the UNIX, AD, and network staff. Provisioning, Security, Audit, and Project Management staff can optionally attend. 3 - Configure Active Directory query tool to determine how many in-scope UNIX users have existing Active Directory User accounts. - Discuss Zone design, and how to best logically group UNIX computers. - Required personnel are the UNIX, AD, and network staff. 4 - Detailed discussion of Zone design, with the objective of deciding on Parent Zone (or Zones), the number and characteristics of Child Zones, and use of attribute overrides. - The UNIX personnel are required to attend. 5 - Confirm elected Zones design will meet the needs of your business. - Detailed discussion on Roles and Rights, for both personnel and computer Roles. - Discuss naming conventions for UNIX Groups, Role Groups, and Provisioning Groups - Required personnel are the UNIX and AD staff.
