Carr Allen and Temperance Daniel By Gracie Stover Golden Carr Allen, son of William Allen, Jr., and Ann Stuart was born January 17, 1786, in Grayson County, Virginia, and died in 1868 in Raleigh County. He married Temperance Daniel, daughter of Nehemiah Daniel and Anna Lyon, on March 10, 1815, in Patrick County, Virginia. In 1860, they are living in Sand Branch, Raleigh County, Virginia. Their children were John Henry, Robert, James, Jeremiah, Sarah Ann, Andrew Jackson, William, Tempa, and Martha Ann. - Robert Allen was born October 12, 1819, in Grayson County and died June 21, 1899, in Patrick County, Virginia. He married Elvira Dean, daughter of Henry Harrison Dean and Keturah Ayers, on January 5, 1843, in Patrick County, Virginia. They had eight - James L. Allen was born about 1819 and was married to Martha. They had three - Jeremiah Allen was born in 1818 in Grayson County and died about 1898. He was married to Nancy Combs, daughter of William Combs and Jane Carter, on January 3, 1844, in Carroll County. His family remained in Carroll County, and two of his sons were involved in the "Carroll County Courthouse Massacre" of 1912. He married Sarah Ann Noonkester, daughter of Daniel Noonkester and Frances Brinkley, on December 20, 1883, in Carroll County. - Sarah Ann Allen was born in 1828 in Patrick County and was married to William A. McMillian, son of Stephen McMillian and Martha Blansett. They had four -,Andrew Jackson Allen was born about 1829 and died December 1885. He enrolled May 6, 1864, in Company H, 7th West Virginia Calvary. He was captured April 6, 1865, by guerrillas. He was married to Masse A. Coleman, Sarah Young, and Martha Dixon. John Henry Allen, Sr., and Sarah Johnson John Henry Allen, Sr., son of Carr and Tempy Allen, was born January 29, 1817, in Grayson County, Virginia and died February 11, 1893, in Pulaski County, Virginia. He married Sarah Johnson, daughter of William Johnson and Mary Edwards, on November 26, 1840. Sarah was born December 17, 1819, in Grayson County, and died October 13, 1894, in Pulaski County.

In 1870, they are living in Raleigh County and moved then to the Alum Spring Area of Little Creek in Pulaski County. John served as the district clerk from 1871 to 1875 and was constable from 1876 to 1880 in Pulaski County. Their children were Mary J., Martha Ann, William Carr, Temperance, Margaret, John Henry, Jr., James, Sarilda, and Sarah Elizabeth. - Mary J. Allen was born September 24, 1841, and she married William Bradshaw. - Sarilda Catherine Allen was born October 28, 1858, and married Joseph Remley Lester on November 7, 1879, in Raleigh County. They had six Martha Ann Allen and Benjamin Harless Martha Ann Allen, daughter of John and Sarah Allen, was born April 16, 1843, and married Benjamin Harless. Their children were Sarah, John, Virginia, William Lee, Lodema, Eliza, Margaret, and Mary Ann. - William Lee Harless was born about 1869 in Boone County and married Ida Snow on May 18, 1895, in Raleigh County. - Eliza A Harless married R. B. Kyser. William Carr Allen William Carr Allen was born February 7, 1845, in Carroll County and died April 21, 1906, in Pulaski County. His first marriage was to Eliza Combs, daughter of John Combs and Peniah Jane Beller, on October 28, 1866, in Raleigh County. He sold his land in Raleigh County in 1886 and bought land on Little Vreek, Pulaski County, in 1879. Their children were Benjamin, Mary, Sarah, Ida, John, James, William, Charles, and Joseph. - Ida Catherine Allen was born April 30, 1875. She married George Fletcher, son of Madison Allen Fletcher and Martha Sands, on January 17, 1891, in Pulaski County. He then married Susan Sayers Morris, daughter of Jesse Morris, on May 22, 1886, in Pulaski County. Their children were Martha Alice, Samuel, Leona, George, Albert, Jesse, and Herbert. Benjamin Allen and Mary Blackwell Benjamin Franklin Allen, son of William Carr Allen, was born October 22, 1867, in Raleigh County and died April 7, 1903, in Pulaski County. He married Mary Ella Blackwell, daughter of C. Meredith Blackwell and Catherine Sensabaugh, on December 21, 1893, in Fayette County, West Virginia. Their children were Charles Edward, James Franklin, William, Fred, and Jasper Jennings Allen. - Charles Edward Allen was born August 28, 1895, in Thurmond, Fayette County, and died March 25, 1959, in Waynesboro, Virginia. He married Sadie Bell Glover on February 18, 1875, in Waynesboro. They had four - William Carson Allen was born April 2, 1899, and died January 3, 1956, in Waynesboro. He married Margie Louise Lane on November 18, 1919, in Augusta County, Virginia. - Fred Lloyd Allen was born about 1901 and he married Violet Roane on February 19, 1924, in Augusta County. - Jasper Jennings Jack Allen, Sr. was born December 4, 1902, in Pulaski County. He married Eva Lena Moyers on January 30, 1927. Mary Magdalene Allen Mary Magdalene Allen, daughter of William Carr Allen, was born March 6, 1871, in Raleigh County and died November 2, 1935, in Fayette County. Her first marriage was to Charles S. Runyan, son of John David Runyan and Frances May Hammons, on December 21, 1892, in Giles County. Charles was born August 24, 1875, in Giles County and died November 18, 1895. Their children were Eliza and Ida May. - Eliza Frances Runyan was born August 18, 1893, in Giles County and died December 9, 1968. She married Everett Earnest Stover, son of John T. Stover and Henrietta Griffith, on October 7, 1908, at Cranberry, Raleigh County, West Virginia. Everett was born May 2, 1887, in Raleigh County and died January 11, 1919. Their children were Austin, Rufus, Martha, Alice, Andrew Jackson, Daniel, Charles, William, George, Franklin, John, and Mary. - Martha Williams was born September 15, 1870, in Raleigh County. She married George Shelby Keffer. - Henry Osborne Williams was born March 5, 1914, and died August 18, 1957, in Kanawha County, West Virginia. He was a Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff who died of a heart attack at age 43. He is buried at London, West Virginia. He was married to Janet Norton, and they had three - Orville Williams was born December 1, 1907, and died July 25, 1986, in Kanawha County. He was a mechanic for the Truax Coal Company and was married to Irene Estella Pettry. She ran a boarding house. - Tidevil Williams was born October 30, 1905, and died August 16, 1990, in Kanawha County. He was a miner and he married Minnie Lee Totten.
