What is a CEI Cooperation Activity? Small scale multilateral projects: seminars, workshops, conferences, training courses Type of assistance: grants Location: CEI Region (18 CEI Member States) Main objective: transnational mobility of participants 3
Basic functioning & conditions Yearly Calls for Proposals: launched first months of calendar year for activities implemented in next calendar year Mandatory conditions for eligibility of proposals Plan of Action: activity needs to be in line with CEI Plan of Action Participation quorum: involvement of at least half plus one of CEI Member States, i.e. 10, and in no case less than one third, i.e. 6. Maximum CEI contribution (co-financing): up to 50% of total cost of project, within ceiling established by the Call (e.g. 15,000 ) Eligible applicants public and private entities registered in CEI Member States, NGOs, international and regional organisations (individuals cannot apply). Eligible activities: conferences, seminars, workshops, training activities. An applicant can submit only one application. Eligible expenses: i.e. travel and accommodation of participants and speakers of CEI Member States. Residually, catering and subsistence expenses, printing and translations from/to English of publications and preparation of conference kits; rental of conference rooms and audio-visual equipment Non eligible expenses: in-kind contributions, human resources costs, purchase of goods and equipment, bank fees. Some general numbers Since the inception of the CEI Cooperation Fund in 2002: More than 1500 applications received 879 CEI Cooperation Activities co-financed Overall value of the co-financed activities about 53 million 14 million requested CEI amount CEI contribution approved: more than 8 million (or 57.7 % of the requested amount and 15 % of the overall amount) An estimated number of 5,000 participants from all over the CEI Region takes part in the events every year. 6
