D E C R E E S: Art. 1 With respect to the Visiting Professor Programme, a call for nomination and evaluation is announced. The evaluation will be based solely upon qualifications and will be reserved to highly qualified scholars currently working abroad who have been asked to collaborate with teaching and research entities of the University of Sassari. The available positions, 50 short term visits and 22 long term visits, refer to the Department, job descriptions and scientific research areas described below: ID.1 Department: Agraria Visiting Period: mag-16-6 days Scientific research area: AGR/12 PATOLOGIA VEGETALE The successful candidate should have an outstanding international profile relating to Mycology and Plant Pathology, with particular regard to emerging and re-emerging diseases in forest ecosystems. The Visiting Professor is expected to join the Department s research group in Plant Pathology collaborating with researchers and PhD students. He/she will also be involved in teaching activities and laboratory concerning population biology, taxonomy, and international spread of Dutch elm disease and Phytophthora pathogens- biological control of forest pathogens- rapid pathogen evolution via interspecific hybridization and jumping genes - fungal species concepts and fungal speciation processes. ID.2 Department: Agraria Visiting Period: giu-15-6 days Scientific research area: AGR/15 SCIENZE E TECNOLOGIE ALIMENTARI Motivated scientist from a foreign University, collaborating with different top universities.the researcher should be involved in the sector of food science, specifically dairy science and technology The Visiting will be involved on the ongoing research activities of the department, stimulating new ideas and approaches for ongoing and further research activities; will give lectures focused on food microstructure, involving molecular phenomena occurring during dairy processing, such as gelation, emulsification, and crystallization; will meet graduate and postgraduate students, researchers, and professors. ID.3 Department: Agraria Visiting Period: lug-15-6 days Scientific research area: BIO/03 BOTANICA AMBIENTALE E APPLICATA Knowledge of statistical methods for modelling plant distribution, with special concern to invasive alien plant and Bayesian risk mapping. The Visiting will apply statistical methods and software on plant distribution data, focussing to invasive alien plant species and Bayesian methods for risk mapping. These data-sets are already available at the Department; will develop a draft proposal for a larger collaborative research project involving researchers from Italy and other countries; will conduct a seminar at the University of Sassari on the application of statistical methods and software for the analysis of invasive alien plant distribution data. ID.4 Department: Agraria Visiting Period: lug-15-6 days Scientific research area: AGR/09 MECCANICA AGRARIA Expert in electrical engineering technologies applied to agricultural systems, with a special focus on the development of photovoltaic and LED technologies for energy conservation in greenhouses Seminars and lectures addressed to faculty and PhD students, dealing with energy management and photovoltaic systems for sustainable greenhouse plant cultivation. Scientific cooperation on research activities of common interest regarding energy production from renewable sources and energy-savings in greenhouse systems. ID.5 Department: Agraria Visiting Period: set-15-6 days Scientific research area: AGR/18 NUTRIZIONE E ALIMENTAZIONE ANIMALE Expertise on: mechanism regulating feeding behavior and intake of grazing ruminants- techniques to measure pasture intake- modeling of feeding behavior and intake of grazing dairy ruminants. The expert will give 4 seminars for PhD students on: 1) mechanism regulating feeding behavour on pasture; 2) part-time grazing: effects of daily length of access to pasture, timing of grazing sessions and daily frequency of grazing sessions; 3) modelling of ingestive behavior and performance of grazing ruminants; 4) effects of grazing on the release of pollutants in forage-based dairy production systems. The candidate will also support Ph.D. students on their research and contribute to the drafting of a paper on the mechanistic modelling of intake in dairy sheep under part-time grazing. Pag. 3 di 27

Teaching courses for students in Pharmacy and CTF : the central serotonergic system, role of its receptors in the control of the activity of the mesocorticolimbic and nigrostriatal dopaminergic systems. Discussion of the potential of this interactions for the development of improved treatments of dopamine-dependent neuropsychiatric disorders, such as depression, schizophrenia, drug addiction or Parkinson s disease. ID.8 Department: Chimica e Farmacia Visiting Period: giu-15-6 days Scientific research area: CHIM/03 CHIMICA GENERALE E INORGANICA Young motivated scientist from a foreign University, collaborating with different top universities and pharmaceutical companies, strongly involved in the field of genetics of human diseases. The visiting will be involved on the ongoing research activities of the department, stimulating new ideas and approaches for ongoing and further research activities. He will give lectures focused on bioinformatics analysis of gene expression in relation to genetic variants predisposing to clinical phenotypes. He will meet graduate and postgraduate students, researchers, and professors. Research on human cohorts in Sardinia will be discussed, along with possible funding applications, both governmental and pharmaceutical. The visiting professor will be invited to do seminars and / or lectures related to the chemistry of materials, especially for the possible use in electronic and biomedical applications of new materials. The research activity will focus on various projects currently ongoing in UNISS. The visiting professor will also contribute to meetings with scientists in UNISS for possible collaborations under the HORIZON 2020 program. ID.10 Department: Chimica e Farmacia Visiting Period: giu-15-6 days Scientific research area: CHIM/02 CHIMICA FISICA Chemist/Physicist/Materila Engineer with well acquainted knowledge in the field of synthesis and structure invetigations in nanoparticle metal oxides, catalysts and hydrogen storage materials. The candidate is exhorted to teach a series of seminars (two at least) addressed to students, graduate students and young researchers concerning the impact of the Nanotechnology in modern industry and research. Furthermore, research activity will be required for the development of new highly innovative composite materials for energy storage and conversion in a efficient and environmental friendly manner. ID.11 Department: Medicina Veterinaria Visiting Period: giu-15-6 days Scientific research area: VET/02 FISIOLOGIA VETERINARIA Senior Scientist with proved research experience in animal reproduction, and especially in the study of the links between nutritional status and reproductive efficiency. Teaching activities will involve the dissemination of the results obtained in the latest research efforts to graduate students. Research activities will involve the participation in research protocols aimed at studying the endocrine and metabolic factors influencing, both in the pre- and in the post-natal period, the reproductive functions in small ruminants. At this purpose it will be required the use of non-invasive methods (ultrasound, MRI) to determine the ovarian phenotype, fetal growth and morphology. Pag. 5 di 27
ID.12 Department: Medicina Veterinaria Visiting Period: set-15-6 days Scientific research area: VET/10 CLINICA OSTETRICA E GINECOLOGIA VETERINARIA A short-visiting position is available for an experienced researcher in the area of reproduction and fertility in ruminants, focusing on ovarian follicular dynamics and oocyte and embryo quality. The researcher will hold scientific seminars on the factors that impact on reproductive efficiency and on the techniques to improve fertility in domestic ruminants. The seminars will be aimed at students and researchers as well as veterinary practitioners. He/she will take part in an ongoing research project at Uniss on the effects of maternal stress of lactation on offspring gonadal development in dairy cattle. He/she will critically revise the results obtained and will help define the new objectives of the research and the most effective paths to achieve them. The researcher will held lectures and seminars for students and graduate students within Scientific Faculties. These seminars will cover new therapeutic approaches in clinical practice, with particular reference to regenerative medicine and new technologies for tissue engineering. Art. 3 Board of Examiners Based on the general rules and regulations of the Visiting Professor/Scientist Programme, the selection of the candidates with minimum acceptable attributes described in the call for applications will be based on the applicant s qualifications and judgment produced by an ad hoc Committee appointed by the interested Department. The Committee recommendation and judgment is not arguable. The Committee is comprised of three members, appointed by the Director of the Department proposing the position.
