CONTOH CADANGAN KAJIAN HUBUNGAN DI ANTARA SIKAP TERHADAP LAKARAN DAN LUKISAN DENGAN KEMAHIRAN MELAKAR DI KALANGAN PELAJAR-PELAJAR KEJURUTERAAN TUJUAN KAJIAN Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menentukan samada terdapat hubungan di antara sikap pelajar terhadap lakaran dan lukisan (L&L) serta kemahiran mereka dalam melakar serta melukis. Hasil kajian ini adalah dijangkakan akan dapat membantu dalam meningkatkan kemahiran melakar dan melukis yang telah dikenalpasti sebagai berguna kepada kemahiran menyelesaikan masalah dalam kejuruteraan. LATARBELAKANG KAJIAN L&L sering digunakan dalam menyelesaikan masalah kejuruteraan. Sebagai contoh, menghasilkan lakaran bentuk perubahan struktur yang menanggung beban adalah satu usaha yang sangat kritikal bagi mendapatkan penyelesaian dalam merekabentuk struktur (Fraser, 1981). Oleh yang demikian adalah sangat penting bagi pelajar kejuruteraan untuk mempunyai kemahiran tersebut. Pendidikan dan latihan sudah pastinya satu kaedah yang wajar digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemahiran dalam menghasilkan L&L. Walau bagaimanapun, tahap kemahiran yang dicapai bukan semata-mata bergantung kepada latihan kerana terdapat kemungkinan sikap pelajar juga mempunyai peranan dalam pencapaian tahap kemahiran. Terdapat kajian yang menunjukan bahawa dalam keadaan tertentu sikap telah dikenalpasti sebagai agen yang boleh mempengaruhi hasil pengajaran dan pembelajaran. SKOP KAJIAN Kajian yang dicadangkan ini hanya akan melibatkan pelajar kejuruteraan yang mengikuti kursus diploma satu tahun di politeknik. 10

METODOLOGI KAJIAN Cadangan pengumpulan data/ instrumen Populasi kajian adalah pelajar kejuruteraan di pusat pengajian tinggi. Sampel kajian adalah terdiri dari pelajar kejuruteraan yang terdiri dari tiga bidang kejuruteraan iaitu, awam, elektrik dan mekanikal yang sedang mengikuti kursus diploma pada tahun akhir di politeknik-politeknik Malaysia. Sikap pelajar terhadap L&L akan diukur menggunakan soal-selidik sikap dan kemahiran dalam menghasilkan L&L akan diukur menggunakan ujian bilik darjah. Soal-selidik akan diberikan sebelum latihan kemahiran dan pencapaian dalam L&L akan diukur dengan memberi ujian sebelum dan selepas latihan. Latihan akan dijalankan selama dua minggu. Analisa data Data yang dikumpulkan akan dianalisa secara kuantitatif dengan menggunakan kaedah statistik deskriptif dan taakulan yang sesuai. EXAMPLE OF A RESEARCH PROJECT PROPOSAL ASSOCIATION BETWEEN ATTITUDE AND SKILLS IN SKETCHING AND DRAWING AMONG ENGINEERING STUDENTS. PURPOSE OF STUDY The purpose of this study is to determine whether the attitude of engineering students towards sketching and drawing (S&D) is associated with their S&D skills. Insight acquired through this study is expected to be useful for the development of S&D skills, which is identified to be relevant to engineering problem solving. BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY S&D is one of the tools used in engineering problem solving. For example, one s ability to sketch and draw structural deformations under loads is crucial to reaching a good structural design solution (Fraser, 1981). It is therefore desirable for engineering students to have the ability to sketch and draw. Training in S&D is one of the obvious methods that could be employed to develop S&D skills. Development of S&D however may not only be dependent upon training but could also be associated with students attitude towards S&D itself for attitude has been known to affect outcomes of learning in some cases (Simpson, 1978). SCOPE OF STUDY This study will only focus on engineering students who are enrolled in the polytechnic one-year diploma programme. RESEARCH METHODODLOGY Research population/sample The population for the study will be engineering students in Malaysian higher institutions. The sample will be a group of selected engineering students from the three engineering disciplines, civil, mechanical and electrical who are in the final year their engineering programmes. 14

Proposed data collection method/ instruments Students attitude towards S&D will be measured using an attitude questionnaire while skills in S&D will be measured using a classroom test. The attitude questionnaire will be administered prior to the training in S&D and S&D skills will be measured prior to training and after training. Students will be provided with two weeks training in S&D. Data Analysis Data will be analysed quantitatively using the appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical techniques.
