VMD versus Video analytics Video Motion Detection (VMD) is a way of defining activity in a scene by analyzing image data and differences in a series of images. VMD requires little CPU. Video Analytics goes a step further than VMD and attempts to determine what pixel changes in the scene are caused by foreground movement vs. environmental change. Video analytics take more CPU than VMD. Video Motion Detection (VMD) detects any movement as activity Video Analytics ignore pixel changes caused by environment
