INTRODUCTION This document explains the performance, specifications and functions of the new HD Video and Datalink system developed by SVP. This system is exclusive for aircraft and security applications where a secure, stable and high-quality communication is required. The new HD Video and Datalink system consists of two different subsystems, one aimed for the plane transmitter and the other one for the ground receiver. The Plane Datalink system consists of several parts. The SDI video input and the GPS antenna are connected to the HDT-04 High Power Transmitter providing a high quality RF output signal. This new transmitter provides an output power of 10 W, performs DVB-T2 modulation and it is an excellent and comfortable solution for high security applications. The RF signal goes through the HD Video and Datalink equipment, which enables the video signal transmission and provides fast and secure simultaneous Ethernet and serial data communication RS-232. The HD Video and Datalink equipment is connected to the AVS-206 airborne antenna to transmit the information required. It is important to emphasize that for a secure transmission of the signal, this system has the option of the AES-128 encryption. In this way, the signal is encrypted to make the message unintelligible at a receiver not equipped with an appropriately set descrambling device which guarantees high security for our customers. This Plane Datalink can also be equipped optionally with a WiFi antenna and an embedded RF filter to enable the wireless communications inside the plane. Thus, an internal WLAN can be deployed inside the plane. At the reception point, the ground receiver system gets the transmitted signal at the AMS-206 Multisector Switch antenna, which provides a hemispherical coverage with a high gain. Then, the RF signal goes through the Ground Datalink system to ensure a fast and secure communication in the receiver site. Finally, the Ground Datalink equipment is connected to the HDR-106 receiver and the desired signal is obtained. The autotracking control is employed to provide constantly the highest signal level and to transmit the position of the plane s GPS at long distances for the automatic pointing. Thus, the GPS data (position and distance of the transmitter), SDI video signal and the simultaneous Ethernet and Serial base data communication RS-232 are available at the receiver for the user. This Ground Datalink can also be equipped optionally with 3G/4G antenna and an embedded RF filter to enable a 3G/4G back-up connection. The configuration of both the transmitter and the receiver systems are shown in the block diagram in page 4. 2

AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT HDT-04 HD Transmitter Datalink AV-206 Airborne Omni Antenna In the picture we can see the HDT-04 on the left and the Plane Datalink on the right. This picture shows the equipment that should be installed onboard the aircraft, i.e. the transmission side. There is also the possibility of installing a WiFi antenna and an embedded RF filter on the Plane Datalink, to enable the wireless communications inside the plane. Thus, an internal WLAN can be deployed. Video + Audio 5
GROUND EQUIPMENT AMS-206 Multisector Antenna Ground Datalink HDR-106 Diversity Receiver This picture shows the equipment that should be installed at ground level, i.e. at the reception side. This Ground Datalink can also be equipped (optionally) with a 3G/4G antenna and an embedded RF filter to enable a 3G/4G back-up connection. 6
