Beliefs: Each FCA representative shall affirm their agreement with FCA s Christian beliefs and shall not subscribe to or promote any religious beliefs inconsistent with these beliefs. FCA Statement of Faith 1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. 2. We believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. 4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men (women) regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. 5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. 7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. Christian Conduct Standards: FCA Representatives shall at all times endeavor to conduct themselves in a manner that affirms Biblical standards of conduct in accordance to FCA s Christian beliefs. Such conduct standards include FCA s Sexual Purity Statement. FCA s Sexual Purity Statement God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness. The Bible is clear in teaching on sexual sin including sex outside of marriage and homosexual acts. Neither heterosexual sex outside of marriage nor any homosexual act constitutes an alternative lifestyle acceptable to God. It is God s will that you should be set apart: that you should avoid sexual immorality. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 While upholding God s standard of holiness, FCA strongly affirms God s love, grace and redemptive power in the individual who chooses to follow Him. FCA s desire is to encourage individuals to trust in Jesus and turn away from any impure lifestyle. FCA Student Officers are not always perfect examples, but they do their best to live and conduct themselves in accordance with Biblical values and instruction in order to glorify God. As an Officer, I will be accountable to the other Officers, Huddle Coach(es) and FCA staff. I understand that if I am involved in a lifestyle that does not conform to the FCA s Sexual Purity Statement, or break my commitment to living a drug-, alcohol- and tobacco-free life, that I will need to step down from my leadership position with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This does not mean that I am a bad person or that FCA does not love me and want me involved; this is to give me time to focus on growing in my personal relationship with Christ, to protect the integrity of the ministry and to protect the ones to whom we are ministering. GUIDELINES TO PREPARING YOUR PERSONAL SALVATION TESTIMONY (Please type or print in blue or black ink) I. Before Receiving Christ A. Give 1 or 2 specific examples of your lifestyle, attitudes, etc. B. You could relate your church involvement and your attitudes, etc., but don't mention denomination. C. Don't brag about sin. II. How You Received Christ (be very specific) During this part you re sharing the Gospel, so a person will know how to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. These are some verses you can use: John 3:16, Galatians 3:24, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:10, 3:19-20, 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 7:7, 10:9-10. The following are some specific areas to cover: A. Describe how you were confronted with the fact that you had broken God s Law (the Ten Commandments), and because of this you deserved judgment from God. B. Explain how this made you see your desperate need for Christ. C. Explain how you received Christ into your life (i.e. through confessing/repenting of your sins, believing in and confessing Jesus is Lord, surrendering your life to Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of your life). ***If you use the words "saved" and/or "born again", be sure to explain. III. After Receiving Christ A. What changes have you noticed since receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord? Attitudes? Parents? Social life? Direction and purpose in life? Give specific examples. B. Have the changes been immediate or gradual? C. What problems or struggles have you had since becoming a Christian (be real)? Do you handle these problems or struggles any differently now? D. What are the benefits of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? This type of format is an effective way to develop a 3-5 minute testimony. During your testimony, include 1 or 2 scripture verses that are meaningful to you. It is helpful to have an outline of your testimony to keep you on track and help you remember key things you want to share. Remember you are sharing a personal testimony, not preaching. Relax and rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you. You should use words like "I", "me", or "my", not "you". It is a good idea to build your testimony around a theme that is characteristic of your experience, and is of general interest to non-christians. Any subject matter can be presented more effectively with careful organization. A carefully prepared testimony, given in the power of the Holy Spirit, can be of immediate and effective use in nearly every witnessing situation. IT SHOULD BE OUR DESIRE TO PRESENT JESUS CHRIST IN SUCH A CLEAR AND COMPELLING WAY, THAT THOSE WHO HEAR US WILL WANT TO KNOW HIM! Please follow these guidelines when preparing your personal testimony: 1. Before Receiving Christ 2. How I Received Christ 3. After Receiving Christ
