38MM BLACK WEBBING FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION Description: Weave FLAT Material - 100% Polyester or Polyester/Nylon mix Colour Black Required Widths 38mm The functional properties of the delivery pouch must bear a mail load weight of 8KG. The webbing and all main materials must be constructed in such a way to ensure the highest levels of performance and facilitate the transportation of mail. These pouches are used every working day and have a required life cycle of approximately 18 24 months 38MM LL NIFCO BLACK PLASTIC SLIDERS FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION Description: Colour Black Size 40mm Performance Properties: Breaking Strength (KG) min 96.6 when tested at crosshead speed of 300mm/min All buckles shall be tested when attached to the 38mm Black webbing, the type stated above. The webbing, buckle and pouch shall be tested by lateral pull. MANUFACTURE The size and dimension of the pouch shall conform to following dimensions: Height 330mm Width 365mm Bottom depth 155mm Top depth 145mm Shoulder strap length 1300mm Adjustable minimum length 760mm Mail load capacity 8KG Body: The front, bottom and back of the pouch shall be cut in one piece. Side Panels: The two side panels shall be attached to the body of the bag, seamed and taped. The seams shall be painted on the inside of the bag with a water repellent sealant. Closure Flap:
The closure flap shaped as in the sample shall be cut from one piece of material. Two cut-outs are positioned at the front corners; the edges placed together and seamed 10mm. The seams shall be painted with an approved water repellent sealant. When joined, the seam shall finish 190mm in length. Two additional cuts shall be provided along the back edge of the lid closure, positioned centrally and 345mm apart. The seams shall be joined and sealed as above; the finished length shall be 50mm. The edges of the lid shall be bound with 38mm Black webbing. The webbing shall overlap by 50mm at the join and be securely stitched. The cut ends of the webbing shall be heat sealed. The lid shall be attached to the main pouch at the centre back. The lid shall be positioned centrally 40mm down from the finished edge of the main pouch and securely attached by two rows of stitching 275mm in length. The ends of the stitching shall be boxed and flag stitched as in the sample pouch. Handle: A handle manufactured from 38mm wide Black webbing shall be positioned centrally at the back of the pouch. The handle shall be cut 450mm in length, the cut ends heat sealed. The central handle shall be folded and stitched 275mm. The handle shall be attached to the back of the main pouch, positioned centrally 120mm down from the bound edge, the inner webbing edges shall be 110mm apart. The webbing shall be securely attached by double box and flag stitching. A second double row of stitching shall be provided to secure the handle onto the pouch lid; this stitching shall be in-line with that present on the bound edge. Identity Pocket: A clear PVC identity pocket with a 10mm wide Black PVC frame shall be provided. The pocket shall be centrally positioned on the pouch lid 70mm up from the finished edge. The pocket shall finish 140mm in length and 90mm in depth. The pocket shall be securely attached to the pouch lid by double stitching. Access to the pocket will be from the right hand side when viewed face on, the ends of the stitching that secures the pocket in place shall be securely box stitched. Reflective Strip: A 70mm wide encapsulated reflective White strip branded Royal Mail in Red text (Chevin) shall be attached to the front pouch. The top of the reflective strip shall be positioned 280mm down from the bound edge of the main pouch. The top and bottom edges shall be securely machined stitched; the edges of the reflective strip shall be enclosed into the side panel seams. Snap Clip Fastener: A 38mm Black two piece snap clip fastener shall be provided. The male part of the fastener shall be fixed centrally to the pouch lid by 38mm Black webbing and box and flag stitched. The webbing shall cut to a length so as to provide adjustment. Both cut ends shall be heat sealed. The female part of the fastener shall be positioned centrally onto the front of the main pouch. One cut end of the webbing shall be securely machine stitched into and behind the reflective strip. The female part of the clip shall be attached to the webbing, the cut end heat sealed, looped, boxed and flag stitched into position. The webbing shall be zig-zag stitched flat onto the main body of the pouch. Shoulder Pad Strap:
A non strip shoulder pad shall be provided and positioned onto the main pouch strap. The pad shall be manufactured to provide adequate comfort when worn. The pad shall be covered in the main material and a non slip cover shall be attached onto one side as in the sample provided. Shoulder Strap: The pouch shall be fitted with an adjustable 38mm wide Black webbing shoulder strap. The strap length shall be 1300mm and adjust to a minimum length of 760mm. The cut ends of the strap shall be heat sealed. A strap buckle shall be provided, attached to a piece of 38mm wide webbing, 190mm in length and positioned centrally on the left hand side panel. The bottom edge of the webbing shall be 180mm above the base of the pouch, the top of the buckle 320mm. The strap buckle shall be securely attached to the side panel by zig-zag, box and flag stitched. The strap buckle shall be reinforced on the inside of the pouch with an additional piece of the main material. An adjuster buckle shall be attached to the end of the main strap, the webbing shall be folded twice and securely machine stitched. The webbing strap shall be threaded twice through the buckle to allow for secure adjustment. The heat seal ends of the strap shall be securely attached to the right hand side panel. Centrally positioned, the bottom edge of the webbing shall be 180mm from the base of the pouch. The webbing shall be secured 75mm with zig-zag stitching. The webbing, buckle and pouch shall be tested by lateral pull.
