All students entering the department wishing to pursue the B.F.A. in Art Education will be admitted under the B.A. in Art. Entrance into the B.F.A. programs is contingent on passing a formal portfolio review. Please attend a portfolio workshop, held every fall and spring semester, for information regarding application requirements. All candidates must obtain provisional admission to the Teacher Licensure program before they can register for their first field experience course(s). Provisional admission requires attending an application meeting, submitting application materials and satisfying the fingerprinting requirement. Formal admission requires provisional admission plus satisfying the Math requirement and meeting the GPA requirement of 2.5 or higher over the most recent 30 credit hours. Students must be formally admitted to the Teacher Licensure program, have satisfactory scores on the state licensure examination, and meet certain minimum GPA requirements overall and in all courses required for licensure, to apply for student teaching. See your advisor for more information. A grade of C- or better is required in each required ART, ARTH, CDES and ARTE course before progressing to subsequent courses.
