Data Sheet Cisco Conference Connection Cisco IP Communications a comprehensive system of powerful, enterprise-class solutions including IP telephony, unified communications, IP video/audio conferencing, and customer contact helps organizations realize business gains by improving operational efficiencies, increasing organizational productivity, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Cisco Conference Connection an integral component of the Cisco IP Communications system provides enterprises with a robust and scalable IP-based audio conferencing solution that integrates with Cisco CallManager, and it is enabled by Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video, and Integrated Data). Cisco Conference Connection (CCC) allows organizations to bring key people together that are geographically dispersed into a single conference, to facilitate discussions, ideas, and decisions making. This helps reduce the time and cost associated with traveling. Key Benefits Cisco Conference Connection provides value added solution to the IP Communication network as well as legacy telephone networks. Key features and benefits include: Scalability & Flexibility: The Cisco Conference Connection allows the customer to scale their system from 20 ports to 180 ports. It allows customers the flexibility to build as they grow. Customers can purchase incremental licenses based on their needs. Simplified Administration: Support for common corporate directory integration, Cisco Conference Connection simplifies user account and policies management. Thus eliminating potential of system miss configurations and errors. System-wide policies and administration tasks can be performed from that same interface. Lower Cost of Ownership: Cisco Conference Connection is a complete system and can support up to180 ports on a single system. Interoperability: Cisco Conference Connection provides a value-added solution to the IP communication network as well as legacy telephone networks. Interoperating with both IP networks and the Public Switched Telephone Network means conference participants can join regardless of location. Increased Security: Because of the sensitive nature of many conferences, Cisco Conference Connection was designed with increased security. Conferences scheduled through a Web-based interface can be password-protected, and even hidden from all non-authorized individuals. All contents are Copyright 1992 2003 All rights reserved. System-wide security policies can be established that enforce desired levels of security for individual conferences. Cisco Conference Connection is designed for small and medium enterprises as well as the business units or remote offices of large enterprises. Cisco Conference Connection facilitates relevant participation regardless of location, faster decisions, and eliminates disruptions caused by requirements for a physical conference room presence. Typical applications include service calls, project management, sales reviews, corporate announcements, customer and employee training, and other business meetings. CCC conferences are scheduled from a simple Web-based interface. Conference participants call in to a central number, enter a meeting identification, and are then placed into the conference. At the discretion of the conference organizer, conference participants using a Cisco IP Phone can join meetings at the touch of a button. Features Cisco conference connection provides an extensive set of features to both the user and the administrator. System-Wide Cisco Conference Connection offers a variety of system-wide features designed to enable productive and effective conferences First person announcement Entry/exit tones Place call on hold while in conference Transfer into the conference Automatic time extension with sufficient system capacity End-of-conference announcement Interactive voice response (IVR) to guide for conference entry Cisco IP Phone Services All contents are Copyright 1992 2003 All rights reserved. Cisco IP Phone Integration Cisco Conference Connection can be integrated with Cisco IP Phones by enabling service on the CallManager. This service allows quick and easy access to scheduled conferences from the services menu on the phone. The service can be enabled from the Cisco IP Phone Services page available within the User Option Menu. Cisco Conference Connection service can be accessed by clicking the Services button on the Cisco IP Phones 7960 or 7940. Enabling service on the Cisco IP Phone allows customers the following capabilities: List all public conferences. Join a conference by selecting it and pressing the join button. Password protected conference requires the participant to enter a valid conference password before joining the conference. System Capacity Cisco Conference Connection is available on Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) series platforms, or qualified third-party server platforms. A single Cisco Conference Connection system can scale from 20 ports to 180 ports. Additional ports capacity can be added to the Cisco IP Communication network by adding additional Cisco MCS servers. A single conference of up to 100 participants can be scheduled. A single system with 100 ports capacity can handle 33 conferences of three participants each or any combination of participants, leading to a single conference of 100 participants. The minimum systems configuration is for 20 ports. System capacity can be increased by adding software licenses. See ordering information for details. Port utilization for Cisco Conference Connection should be calculated based on peak usage. Usage varies for each customers based on the application and user environment. Typically enterprise customers build capacity for their conferencing system to meet or exceed their peak usage. All contents are Copyright 1992 2003 All rights reserved.
