SHOA is the NAVAREA XV coordinator and transmits MSI to the broadcasting system that is disseminated by SafetyNET service. Transmissions of navigational warnings are made through AOR-W satellite as scheduled in the Master Plan at 02:10, 14:10, 22:10, UTC. SafetyNET service: The transmissions are done through the Directorate General of Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine as National Maritime Authority, which connects the page of VISADA, located in Rockville, U.S.A. 2. Comments: HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE OF THE CHILEAN NAVY (SHOA) receives, analyzes and transmits MSI to the dissemination system formed by Maritime Communications Center and NAVTEX Stations network along the country. Maritime Communications system is a responsibility of the Directorate General of Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine as National Maritime Authority. SHOA also disseminates MSI by internet on the web site www.shoa.cl or www.shoa.mil.cl. Notices to Mariners are issued monthly on the Boletín de Noticias a los Navegantes. These bulletins that contain nautical warnings that modify or update nautical charts and publications can be achieved by users in paper format and can be discharged from the web site www.shoa.mil.cl (service/ bulletin) or (servicios/ boletines). NAVAREA XV 2008 2009 2010 (up to July 1, 2010) Safety Net 153 176 73 Navtex 1590 1392 318 During the year 2009, the SHOA publication No 3008 Radio Ayudas a la Navegación (Radio Navigational Warnings) was published, which contains, among others, information about the time signal service, weather bulletins service, radio navigational warnings service (NAVTEX and Safety Net), overview of services served by the maritime radio stations on the coast of Chile (on HF, LF, VHF, 4Mhz bands to 22 MHz, etc.) security and emergency service, radar responders service (RACON). The Directorate General of Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine (DIRECTEMAR) updated the Publications related to the Maritime Mobile Service - Manual para uso en el Servicio Móvil Marítimo (Manual for use by the Maritime Mobile Service), 2nd Edition 2009. - Cartilla Radiotelefónica del Servicio Móvil Marítimo (Radiotelephone Logbook of the Maritime Mobile Service), 6th Edition 2009. Contingency Planning Currently there is no contingency plan relating to bordering countries for NAVAREA areas in consideration of Chile uses the AOR-W satellite. NAVTEX contingency plans exist for the dissemination of coastal warnings. Page 4 of 6

7. Capacity Building: Chile supports the initiative to carry out the regional training (workshop) in 2010 or 2011, in Spanish language. From September 2010 and progressively, the IMO/IHO/WMO Manual on Maritime Safety Information, related to message formats of the radio navigational warnings, will be implemented. 8. NAVAREA Website: El Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy (SHOA) has a web site www.shoa.cl or www.shoa.mil.cl in Spanish and English and on the link RadioWarnings NAVAREA XV Chile, the coastal and oceanic radio navigational warnings are constantly updating. On November 30 th of 2009, the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy (SHOA), as part of its permanent commitment to provide a better service to the national and international community, published the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) technology version of the Web site of SHOA, contemplating almost all the services and information for the navigational aids, which considers a redesigned version of the site currently in use for this type of technology. Access to this new web page especially designed for quick access to services provided by SHOA, with a higher than 90% coverage for cell phones available in the market can be carried out through the same address used to access the Web sites www.shoa.cl or www.shoa.mil.cl. This new service is part of the policy of SHOA to provide an opportune service of high quality and content, widening the range and easy access from any place within the reach of the mobile telephone system; thus continuing with the path traced for the purpose of creating an efficient and modern Hydrographic Office for the community.
