Up to date knowledge of high threat areas and piracy related activity

Professional People Professional Services Secure A Ship delivers risk mitigation via the medium of detailed risk assessments, vessel audits and hardening, crew training and the presence of armed security teams. We have an extensive knowledge of flag state and port requirements so the embarkation and disembarkation of security teams causes minimal disruption to client operations. We have a comprehensive logistic supply chain ensuring cost effective movement of personnel, weapons and associated equipment to the required destinations. Our up to date knowledge of high threat areas and piracy related activity aids our teams in their ability to advise ships Captains and crews as to the best course of action to take to minimise risks in general and how to deal with the threat of, or deal with an actual attack by pirates, in detail. Training Standards All Secure A Ship personnel undergo a rigorous selection process. Only the best work for us. The reason for this is that these personnel are the face of Secure A Ship. A high standard based on years of experience is what we expect from our people. Well-disciplined, well-trained and professional security teams are Secure A Ship. Secure A Ship ensures that its teams are constantly at the highest level of preparedness. With this in mind, all staff undergo competency training once a month and teams are assessed once every three months. The ability to be able to fight effectively in order to defend a vessel and its crew is the driving force behind the detailed selection and training of our operatives. Our partner company The Training Wing, based in Wiltshire, provides all of our training requirements. Proficiency for our personnel training includes weapon handling familiarisation and tactical testing, tactical combat training and refresher courses in first aid and hand-to-hand combat. Accreditations Panama accredited ISO 9001:2008 Level 1 certified member of SAMI Members of Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG) of ADS Signatories of The International Code of Conduct for Private Security Companies (ICoC) Training Courses Secure A Ship offers a selection of courses for maritime personnel. These include: STCW 95 Ship Security Officer (SSO) Company Security Officer (CSO) Maritime Security Operator (MSO) Combined Maritime Security Designated Security Duties Proficiency in Security Awareness First Person on the Scene (FPOS) Weapons The weapons our Security Teams utilise while on armed assignments are licensed and registered in the United Kingdom. Secure A Ship has the ability to deploy teams with a range of weapons, including sniper, fully and semi-automatic assault rifles and shotguns. Each package is bespoke in nature and so the choice of weapons is driven by the ship or vessel that needs protecting and the nature of each particular mission at hand. The current threat posed to the vessel is the main element in the security analysis and a sound decision-making process will dictate the package that each client requires. Security teams also have access to non-lethal weaponry such as stun grenades and other specialist equipment should the mission dictate it.

N 21:19:39 E 38:172:17 Piracy is abundant and the risks to shipping in certain parts of the world are extremely real

The Need for Maritime Security Piracy and armed sea robbery, in one form or another, have been recognised as an issue for seafarers for centuries. In 2008 Maritime Security, as it is currently known and recognised, was established and benchmarks and standards within the industry were created. The links between piracy and organised crime are abundant and the risks to shipping in certain parts of the world are extremely real and often profuse. Shipping companies and private yacht owners are seeing the worth in having increased security afforded to their vessels. It makes eminent sense to insure vessels and the protection afforded by Secure A Ship often lowers insurance premiums for owners.

The Secure A Ship Approach We specialise in providing armed personnel for the protection of maritime shipping and assets. Secure A Ship is a Limited Company and is registered in England and Wales. The Company was formed by ex British Military Special Forces and specialises in providing armed personnel for the protection of maritime shipping and assets. Recognised for our professionalism, flexibility and ability to deliver a quality service, Secure A Ship has a global footprint with a network of in-country managers and agents: the primary areas of focus being East and West Africa, The Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. We specialise in developing bespoke security solutions for the maritime industry. By fully understanding, managing and mitigating the risks posed by piracy, Secure A Ship provides perfectly tailored solutions to meet precise client requirements. We strive to develop a strong and longterm relationship with clients with trust being the main constituent. We welcome feedback so that services can be developed and improved. Our global positioning enables us to provide security services at short notice to clients wherever they need it. By letting Secure A Ship manage your security requirements it means you can manage your main business - shipping. Outsourcing peace of mind is simple with Secure A Ship. Secure A Ship recognises the need for extremely high levels of professionalism when providing protection to vessels, as there is more than just ship, crew and cargo at stake. Name and reputation are everything and Secure A Ship works intimately with clients to provide an onboard deterrent through to a crisis management capability. Secure A Ship understands that protection is afforded by not just providing the ability to combat the tactic of piracy but by understanding the holistic socioeconomic and political landscapes that form the backdrop in the areas were piracy and vessel hijackings occur. Using accurate and timely information by itself will by no means guarantee unmolested passage, but a well-planned route and knowledge of pirate activity and their modus operandi will simply increase the likelihood of remaining safe. As a last resort our security teams will use deadly force but this is only after an escalation based on the inherent right to self-defence. Being ahead of the game by using detailed and up-to-date analysis of the areas in which clients wish to operate Secure A Ship has the ability to deploy bespoke teams for each mission in hand. Secure A Ship is a signatory of the ICOC, is a member of SAMI and has been awarded ISO 9001 accreditation. We operate using the BIMCO GUARDCON contract format. All weapons and associated equipment are licensed in the United Kingdom and Secure A Ship is recognised by all leading insurance companies, P & I Clubs and Flag States. Secure A Ship was one of the first Maritime Security Companies to be awarded the, much coveted, Panama accreditation. Secure A Ship is recognised by Lloyds of London and has Public and Professional liability insurance up to GBP 5,000,000.

We specialise in developing bespoke security solutions for the maritime industry.
