2 Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) A three day course aimed at those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), as defined in section A/2.1.8 and section A/17.1 of the International Ship and Port Facility Security ISPS Code. Course Price: Please contact us to discuss your requirements Course Objectives: To understand the threats and impacts of terrorism on the maritime industry (Ships and Ports). As well as terrorist characteristics, weapons and devices. To have a sound knowledge of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and amendments to SOLAS. To understand the UK National Security Programme. To understand the Port Security Regulations 2009 and EU Legislation. To become familiar with port security organization, and responsibilities of key security personnel. To have a sound knowledge of risk management principles. To know the principles of security and surveillance equipment, maintenance and calibration. To know the principles of security including access and screening measures. To have a sound knowledge of the Port Facility Security Assessment (PFSA) and the Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP). To understand the Ports and ship interface. To have a sound knowledge of the notice of arrivals and the Declaration of Security (DOS) process. To understand port security preparedness, training drills and exercises. To know the principles of audit verification, security documentation and records. 3 What are the benefits of this course: Acquiring the skills needed to conduct comprehensive port security assessments, ensuring development, implementation, continued improvement and maintenance of an effective port facility security plan. Liaison and coordination with shipping company security personnel, facility security staff, contracting government administrations and security services as applicable. Satisfying the UK Department of Transport (DfT), Maritime and Land Transport Security Division (MLTS) requirements in order to become a competent Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO). Candidate Prerequisite: Identification card or passport 1 year working experience in a Maritime Port Facility Candidates attending the course should be fluent in English Course Trainer - Mike Symons: This training course has been developed and is delivered by Mike Symons, Regs4ships Security and Ship Management Specialist, with extensive experience as a marine expert in commercial international ship management and security, policy and practices. With specialist UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) experience in anti-piracy, ship and port security operations, and UK National Security Programme approved security clearance to counter terrorist check level. As an established Company Security Officer, recognised training instructor and advisor for Warsash Maritime Academy in Southampton (UK) delivering International Ship Management (ISM) and Security (ISPS) related training courses, approved by the (UK) government administration. Assists customers, government administrations with compliance, governance, regulatory guidance and advice. An active participant with industry key stakeholders since 2008 regarding anti-piracy and best management practices for the suppression of anti-piracy and armed robbery against the commercial maritime sector.
