Mallard Newsletter Thank you to all the families and community members who supported this year s Christmas concert! Thank you for sharing the kitchen space with us during our week of practice and for providing a delicious meal after the concert! Thank you to all the students for their hard work and effort in getting ready for and putting on such an incredible performance. Now, please enjoy this month s newsletter, as it was written by the students at Mallard school. We had our annual 2016 Christmas concert on Monday, December 19. With a lot of practice, ups and downs, I think we did ok. Our wonderful teachers, Mrs. Demers, Mrs. Nault and Miss Masniuk, encouraged us to do our best and blow minds. We practiced daily and throughout free time. We memorised our lines and knew them at the concert. Well most of us. We did plays, skits, songs and poems. Some skits were funny and others came with a special message such as how Jesus came down to live with the poorest. Afterwards, we had deserts, and drinks, we talked, chatted, hung out with friends and got to meet new people. Jaydee This month we learned how to paint with acrylic paint. We painted a Christmas painting with Christmas ornaments to hang up in the kitchen. It took us two weeks to finish the painting. We started by painting it all black. Then we painted at a corner and went darker and painted the bubbles in the lightest corner. Finally we added the Christmas ornaments. By Jairus Mrs. Nault has been an awesome music teacher. She has taught the grade 7/8 how to play keyboard and bells. During the Christmas concert we played two songs: Jingle Bells and The Angels Sang. We also played Silent Night on the bells. We have music class every Wednesday. Mrs. Nault has taught us how to read notes. By Corey
We have Phys. Ed. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Sometimes, when it s too cold to go ouside, we do relays where we run back and forth with a ball. After the holiday, we will probably go play hockey at the colony rink. In winter hockey is the best sport to play for Phys. Ed. By Alex Every year families of Mallard School do a social justice project to help those in need. This year we did it for the seniors that don t really have families to celebrate with them. Each senior wrote what they want for Christmas and hung it on a Christmas tree. Each family got a senior to give a gift to, then we made or bought the requested gift for them. Some families included slippers, mittens or candy. Each family wrapped their gift in a special way. I really hope they each got the gift they asked for. By Denae
