T-Shade Tailor-made colors with tailor-made performance

T-Shade More than just color! The idea behind Behind T-Shade stands a completely new and innovative market approach. T-Shade pigment blends are offered as an exclusive tailor-made technical solution for your specific and individual needs! In today s world, consumers are in a constant search for an individual style and uniqueness to differentiate from competition. As this trend for an increasing variety of different color shades and effects in different coatings systems is accelerating, you have probably also experienced a growing demand for a higher number of production batches and at the same time smaller sizes which have to be produced within tight tolerances at any quantity and at any time. Helping you to meet these challenges, BASF created T-Shade pigment blends.

Tailor-made with convincing advantages high reproducibility of paint batches high first time right rate easier dispersible than single pigments less energy consumption and shorter processing time easy and quick color strength development shorter processing time no metameric effects by adjusting color shades in different coating systems high end-user satisfaction can be formulated lead-free and avoids harzard labeling additional business opportunities which cannot be covered with your standard pigment portfolio regulation fulfillment more flexibility and responsiveness to clients needs What exactly is T-Shade? T-Shade pigment blends are tailor-made, highly homogenized multi-pigment blends, using synergies by combining the advantages of organic and inorganic pigments in order to meet your required performance profiles of, e.g., powder, coil, water- and solvent-borne coatings. Pigment combinations of dissimilar pigment chemistry are employed to achieve a wide range of properties and color spaces. T-Shade pigment blends are not just simple pigment mixtures. Our long-term pigment experience and technically optimized blending technology are building the foundation for highest homogeneity and reproducibility of our T-Shade pigment blends. The range of applications varies from specific color shades such as Corporate Colors, RAL and NCS to mono-pigment blends. By selecting pigments with high near-infrared reflecting properties, optimized heat managed formulations, so called cool paints are adding additional value to your coating in the end use. 02 03

color strength [%] T-Shade tailor-made and unique Dispersibility and color strength development in powder coatings Shade example RAL 5010 Gentian violet 100 95 90 85 80 75 70 65 60 30 min Rollerbed 3 min Mixaco premix time [min] conventional formulation T-Shade Blue Improved dispersibility, quick color strength development and highest reproducibility These are the advantages where our experience and various experimental series prove value generation after implementing T-Shade in the production process. The graph visualizes the improved dispersibility and therefore quick color strength development of our T-Shade pigment blends versus the conventional pigment mixture here RAL 5010 in powder coating. It shows clearly that T-Shade develops quick color strength during the premix even without great shear forces.

Solar heat management with tailor-made T-Shade pigment blends Rising energy costs, pronounced urban heat-island effect and global warming increase the need for intelligent solar heat management solutions like cool paints. Roughly 50 % of solar radiation is absorbed at the earth s surface. Dark surfaces usually absorb up to 90 % of this energy and get hot. Total Solar Reflectance (TSR) is the percentage of irradiated energy that is reflected by an object. BASF can create the most suitable pigmentation with the right NIR properties for any given color and substrate to create coolness. The shade example RAL 8017 shows the significant impact of pigments on the TSR value. 04 05

T-Shade the quickest way to the perfect shade Example of a coporate color Liquid Coatings (solvent- and water-based) Powder coatings Coil coatings high-performance pigments (exterior) general industrial (medium quality) economical pigments (interior) Tailor-made and cost-efficient Various requirements one shade For the development of a new T-Shade, nearly all pigments available in the market can be used. A significant advantage is the broadness of the BASF pigment portfolio, suitable for all requirements and applications with highest quality standards. By selecting raw materials according to your specific profile, cost and performance are exactly matching the required performance profile, helping you save money in your process. The shade example shows a proven example of a Corporate Color, such as fleet color, where the individual performance profiles of each application with highest requirements to global consistency regarding color shade and metameric effects are achieved. This is possible with T-Shade!

Delivery and supply To give you the greatest flexibility, our standard volume per order is offered with 500 kg. Smaller quantities are available on request. According to the order-related production of our T-Shade pigment blends, our delivery time varies, depending on raw material, from 4 to 8 weeks. Would you like to get more information? We look forward to your requests! 06 07
