I will only accept the following file types as attachments: Word 2000, 2003, 2007. If you do not have access to email and one of these word processing programs you should seriously consider withdrawing from EMR 6400. Homework will be accepted up to 1 class meeting past the due date and can only receive a maximum of 50% of the available points for that assignment unless prior arrangements are made with the instructor. All homework write-ups (when appropriate) are to be typed in APA style. F. (1975). Evaluation of published educational research: A national survey. American Educational Research Journal, 12, 109-128. This article describes a 33-item rating scale researchers and consumers can utilize when reading research papers. Read this article carefully and apply the evaluative criteria (your ratings on all 33 items) to the following two articles. Lloyd, L. (1999). Multi-age classes and high ability students. Review of Educational Research, 69, 187-212. Forness, S. R., Swanson, J. M., Cantwell, D., Guthrie, D. & Sena, R. (1992). Response to stimulant medication across six measures of school-related performance in children with ADHD and disruptive behavior. Behavioral Disorders, 18, 42-53.

Homework Assignment #3 (10 points) Assigned January 16, 2008 (Week #2) Due January 30, 2008 (Week #4) Identify the general area or topic for your Literature Review/Proposal e.g., classroom management of ADHD children. Locate a (literature) review article related to your proposal topic. Turn-in your topic area (1 or 2 sentence description), the reference for the review article and a paragraph summary of the article in addition to your application of the 33-item ratig scale review. The paragraph summary should include the purpose of the review, the major points addressed in the review and the general conclusion reached by the author(s). This paragraph follow proper writing mechanics and conform to the APA publications manual in regard to margins, references, spacing and use of headings.

Homework Assignment #4 (10 points) Assigned January 23, 2008 (Week #3) Due February 6, 2008 (Week #5) What is your problem your literature review/proposal will address? What are your research question(s) or hypotheses? Use a table (in correct APA format) to identify the database(s) you have searched, your search criteria (descriptors and logical operators) and the number of hits. Please include the following information in paragraph format: your problem statement, purpose of your review and your research question(s) and/or hypotheses (this is a second draft for me to read). This paragraph should follow proper writing mechanics and conform to the APA Publications Manual in regard to margins, references, spacing and use of headings.

Homework Assignment #6 (30 points) Assigned February 20, 2008 (Week #7) Due March 12, 2008 (Week #10) Directions: In about two pages (no more than 3 double spaced), begin writing the introduction to your Literature Review/Proposal. This assignment will likely serve as the beginning of your final paper. This 2-pager should follow proper writing mechanics and conform to the APA Publications Manual in regard to title and abstract pages, margins, references, tables, spacing and use of headings. You must: State your problem (1 to 3 paragraphs) Use Assignment #4 as a starting point Elaborate on why you are studying this problem Why is this problem worthy of study (e.g., what are the consequences of the problem)? Use references to support your claims. (Also known as name dropping ) State your research questions/hypotheses (1 paragraph) What is the purpose of the proposed study? Define any necessary terms so that your reader will share a common understanding of the topic Guidelines Avoid the use of personal references, anecdotes, or first person tense in your literature review. Do not write opinion statements unless you have references to support your claims. Although research questions and hypotheses, generate a question to be studied, they are not generally written in an actual question format (with a question mark) in a literature review. They are usually written as declarative statements. Any ideas that are not your own must be referenced. Double space, one-inch margins. Don t forget to include the Title of your Literature Review (e.g., include a Title Page) refer to the APA guidelines for information and an example. Use APA reference style to cite your references. Do include a references page written in APA style.

Homework Assignment #7 (15 points) Assigned February 27, 2008 (Week #8) Due March 26, 2007 (Week #12) Turn-in a detailed outline (Roman Numeral Format (I,A,1,a)) of your Literature Review/Proposal.
