s 1 4 s 4 The Parliament of Queensland enacts PART 1 PRELIMINARY Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act 1996. Commencement 2. Part 2 and the schedule commence on a day to be fixed by proclamation. PART 2 AMENDMENT OF QUEENSLAND TOURIST AND TRAVEL CORPORATION ACT 1979 Act amended 3. This part and the schedule amend the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act 1979. Replacement of s 7 (Membership of Corporation) 4. Section 7 Membership of Corporation 7.(1) The Corporation is to consist of 11 members appointed by the Governor in Council. (2) In deciding whether to appoint a person, the Governor in Council
s 5 5 s 7 must have regard to the person s business expertise, financial management expertise and knowledge of the tourist and travel industry. (3) There must be a chairperson and deputy chairperson of the Corporation. (4) The Governor in Council must appoint 1 of the members to be chairperson. (5) The members must appoint 1 of their number to be deputy chairperson.. of s 8 (Term of appointment of members) 5. Section 8 insert (2) A member is eligible for reappointment unless the member has completed 6 consecutive years as a member.. Replacement of s 9 (Observers at Corporation meetings) 6. Section 9 Observer at Corporation s meetings 9. Section 29A(1) 29A.(1) The entity called Queensland Holidays and Travel (the subsidiary corporation ) continues in existence..

s 12 7 s 12 PART 6 TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS Definition for pt 6 62. In this part former subsidiary corporation means Australian Travel and Leisure Automated Systems. Existing members of Corporation 63.(1) This section applies to the members of the Corporation holding office immediately before the commencement of this section. (2) The members continue to hold office until (a) (b) the end of their term of appointment; or they earlier vacate their office. (3) In addition, the member who was the chairperson immediately before the commencement continues to be the chairperson after the commencement. (4) However, the member who was the deputy chairperson immediately before the commencement ceases to be the deputy chairperson on the commencement but is eligible for reappointment. Former subsidiary corporation dissolved 64. The former subsidiary corporation is dissolved on the commencement of this section. Transitional provisions for former subsidiary corporation 65.(1) The assets and liabilities of the former subsidiary corporation become assets and liabilities of the Corporation on the dissolution. (2) A legal proceeding by or against the former subsidiary corporation that is not finished before the commencement of this section may be continued and finished by or against the Corporation.
s 13 8 s 14 (3) In addition, a legal proceeding that could have been started by or against the former subsidiary corporation before the commencement of this section may be started, continued and finished by or against the Corporation after the commencement. Expiry of pt 6 66. This part expires on the day it commences.. PART 3 AMENDMENT OF INDY CAR GRAND PRIX ACT 1990 Act amended 13. This part amends the Indy Car Grand Prix Act 1990. Replacement of s 5 (Termination of Act) 14. Section 5 Expiry of Act 5. This Act expires on 31 December 2000..
