Introduction This document provides examples for adding and backing up periodic reports. The examples use a predefined report template for the IMC Alarm component. IMC also allows operators to export reports, print reports, and receive reports by email. Prerequisites Make sure the relevant report template is available in the report management component. IMC supports the following types of report templates: Predefined report templates of IMC service components After a service component is installed, its report template is automatically added to the report template list of the report management component. Custom report templates Operators can customize report templates by using the IMC report designer and add them to the report management component through the template release function. General configuration restrictions and guidelines When you add or back up a periodic report, follow these restrictions and guidelines: If a service component is uninstalled or its license expires, the predefined report template for the service component is removed from report management. To release custom report templates, first install the IMC report designer component. The exported report file does not contain the contents that can be displayed by using the drill-down function. The report file sent by email cannot exceed 1 MB in size. Otherwise, the email contains only the link to the report. Example: Adding a periodic report 1. Access the Add Scheduled Report page by one of the following methods: Method 1 Method 2 Click the Report tab. From the navigation tree, select Reports > Add Scheduled Report. Click the Report tab. From the navigation tree, select Scheduled Reports > All Scheduled Reports. Click Add. 2. Click Select next to the Template Name field. The Select page appears. 3. Query and select Device Connectivity Detail Report V2 in the report template list, and then click OK. 1
The Template Name field is automatically populated with Device Connectivity Detail Report V2. 4. Specify the report name in the Scheduled Report Name field. 5. If you want to allow the maintainer group to access the periodic report, select Maintainer Group. The administrator group has access to the periodic report by default and cannot be disabled from access. 6. Select the schedule type. The report is generated based on both the schedule type and report start date. 7. In the Schedule Time Settings area, set a reporting expiration time if you want IMC to stop generating periodic reports at the specified time. 8. Select a format for saving reports from the Report File Format list. Options are PDF, CSV, MSExcel, and MSExcel (Data-only). 9. If you want the periodic report to be sent by email, select Send by Email and enter a valid email address. Only one email address can be specified. 10. Set the begin time, end time, and view name. 11. Click OK. Figure 1 Adding a periodic report Example: Backing up a periodic report 1. Click the Report tab. 2. From the navigation tree, select Scheduled Reports > All Scheduled Reports. The All Scheduled Reports page appears. 3. Click the History Report icon for Device Connectivity. 2
The Device Connectivity History Report page appears. 4. Click the View link. The report is saved as a PDF file. You can also back up the file by using one of the following methods: Open the local PDF file, and then save or print the file. To open the file, make sure your computer has a PDF viewer, for example, Adobe Reader. When adding a report, select Send by Email, and then specify an email address to receive the report. IMC sends the report file to the specified email address. Obtain the report file from the server file system in the path [imc install]\client\web\apps\rptviewer\taskresult\[task_id]. [imc install] is the installation directory for IMC, and [task_id] is the random number for the report. Periodic reports are saved in the server file system after they are generated.
