MEET THE SURGEONS Both Dr. James J. Ronzo and Dr. Frank S. Bono have been on the forefront of minimally invasive spine surgery for well over a decade. Although both surgeons were originally trained in open-procedure spinal surgeries, they quickly recognized the extensive patient benefits of the minimally invasive approach. The minimally invasive approach produces vastly fewer complications and allows for a much quicker recovery time for the patient. Drs. Bono and Ronzo perform true minimally invasive spine surgery and are part of an elite group, with less than eight percent of spine surgeons performing high-level minimally invasive spinal surgery. Not only do the doctors perform ONLY minimally invasive spinal surgeries, they also provide training to other surgeons. James J. Ronzo, D.O., practicing for 14 years, is a nationallyrecognized leader in minimally invasive spinal surgery. UNDERSTANDING THE MINIMALLY INVASIVE APPROACH Medtronic s comprehensive platform of minimally invasive spinal technologies enables surgeons to achieve the same surgical objectives as with a traditional, open procedure. With more than a decade of experience in minimally invasive spine and a complete minimally invasive product portfolio, Medtronic remains on the forefront of minimally invasive spinal techniques. The METRx System incorporates technology developed by Gary K. Michelson, MD. A thin, fiber optic lightsource provides the surgeons with the visibility to see through the small opening. There is no cutting or destruction of the muscle. Very few surgeons in the nation are able to perform this level of minimally invasive spine surgery. THE BIOSPINE PROCESS The first step of the BioSpine process is a thorough interview wherein the doctor is able to understand and assess all of the patients concerns. Following the interview is a physical examination, which may include any or more of the following; MRI, CT-Scan, X-Rays. Once all the information has been collected and analyzed, the doctor is able to create an individualized plan of treatment created specifically for each patient. The treatment plan, whether or not it involves a surgical procedure, will be drafted with the sole intent of obtaining the best possible results for the patient. Once a patient enters into the treatment plan, their progress will be both implemented and monitored directly by either Dr. Frank Bono or Dr. James Ronzo.
