Simple Canes Turned Splendid! By Kelly Steindorf This class is for those who are new to making canes or those who need a refresher course. I will teach you to make simple canes that can be used to make flowers and other desired shapes. Once you have the simple canes you can add details for more impact. By adding the canes together you can create more complex canes. We will get the simple canes completed in class and the instruction for the details will be given so that if there is not time in class for you to try it out, you will be able to work on it at home to create something Splendid. Skinner Blend will be used to create different color schemes and will be wrapped and lines added to enhance the image. Spirals, bulls eye and stacks will be covered. Precondition all clay before class. Please! 2 blocks White 2 blocks Purple or similar 1 block Green 1 block Black 1 block Yellow or Red Basic clay tools-blade Pasta machine

Kaleidoscope Pendants using Skinner Blends By Nadia Valiaeva 2 or 3 different Skinner Blends (accordion folded); form a square prism about 1 inch in height. Here you can find the instruction how to do it http://www.tooaquarius.com/tutorials/skinner-blend-plugs/ (The total amount of clay that we will use to create a kaleidoscope should be about 2 blocks of clay. For instance, if you make 2 Skinner Blends you should use half of each of 4 colors, if you do 3 blends, you should use one third of each of 6 colors. We will create a few different kaleidoscopes of the same colors that will perfectly match each other.) You could bring small sheets of clay (~2 x2 ) of original colors or some contrast colors (black or white, for instance); roll it on medium setting on your pasta machine. This is optional.
