TRBL Here to Help A5 Leaflet 2015.indd 1 INDEPENDENT LIVING HERE TO HELP THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION We want to make sure that our beneficiaries are able to live with dignity, whether that is in their own home or one of our care homes. ADMIRAL NURSES Caring for a loved one with dementia can be a challenging experience. The Legion s Admiral Nurse Service supports family carers to navigate the dementia journey by giving practical support and advice. BENEFITS ADVICE We ll help you access the most relevant information, whether that s a simple check to make sure you have all the benefits you re entitled to, or support at tribunals if you feel your benefits have been withdrawn unfairly. The advice and support that my nurse has provided has helped me care for Albert at home, which is something I wanted to do. HANDY VAN SERVICE CARE HOMES We have a dedicated and trusted team trained to carry out small home repairs such as fitting smoke alarms or fixing grab rails to help you get around in your home safely. W1 Our Care Homes are a real home from home where our residents can feel comfortable for as long as they stay. All our homes are exclusive to ex-service people and their dependants, giving them a unique camaraderie. Registered Charity Number 219279

The Legion provides lifelong support for members of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, Reservists, veterans and their families all year round. NEED ADVICE? The Legion really helped with my compensation claim and made the process simple. It s nice to know professionals are there to help and guide. Visit one of our Pop In centres, call our freephone number, or use our online resources to find out more. WAR PENSIONS AND ARMED FORCES COMPENSATION SCHEME ADVICE MONEY ADVICE If you re having trouble paying the bills, and this is having a fundamental impact on your life, our advisers have got the specialist knowledge to help you get back on your feet. Without the help we received from The Royal British Legion we would not be living in our home now. We re extremely grateful for the amazing support we received. TRBL Here to Help A5 Leaflet 2015.indd 2 IMMEDIATE NEEDS GRANTS SCHEME NEED A BREAK? If you re going through a crisis and need help to meet sudden, unexpected expenses, the Legion may be able to help you. We can t provide cash, but we can help with essentials such as food or clothing in times of need. SEASIDE BREAKS AND FAMILY HOLIDAYS I could not afford to replace my fridge freezer as it was old and beyond repair. You kindly financed a new one, I was delighted! Our range of short breaks are there to suit all ages and family situations. Whether it s a week s peaceful rest in one of our four Break Centres for an older veteran, an Adventure Break for a young family member, or a seaside holiday for Service families to enjoy together, the Legion can make it happen. If you ve suffered an injury or illness due to Service the Legion can help with claims and appeals to both the War Pensions Scheme and the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. Our Independent Inquest Advice service can also help if a family member has died in Service. I d definitely recommend Poppy Breaks to other Armed Forces families as they really are great for the mums and children. Hopefully we can arrange another break and John can come with us. MONEYFORCE Don t forget, you can visit www.moneyforce.org.uk for financial tips designed for Service people.
