Course Code: CMB2071 Vendor: Citrix Course Overview Duration: 5 RRP: 3,805 Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Fast Track Overview This fast-paced course covers select content from training courses CXA-206 and CXD-202 and provides the foundation necessary for students to effectively centralize and manage desktops and applications in the datacenter and deliver them as a service to users anywhere. Delegates will learn how to build XenApp aand XenDesktop environments; assign virtual desktops; deliver published resources and printers to users; use policies to customize farm settings and the user experience; and administer the environments. In addition, delegates will learn how to build a Provisioning services farm to enable single-image desktop management. This course is scheduled to run approximately nine hours each day. Delegates are expected to self-study select modules designated by the instructor, as not all topics will be covered during the classroom time. Target Audience: This class is a Fast Track delivery of the XenApp 6.5 (CXA-206 1I) and XenDesktop 5.5 (CXD-202 1I) administration courses. As a Fast Track course, the goal is to provide delegates with a streamlined training experience that takes place in 5 days instead of the original 10 days. This course is designed to provide delegates with access to the majority of lab exercises for both products, to clarify key topics through a minimal amount of lecture, and to provide a forum for questions and answers. Delegates will be provided with instructions on how to access their e-courseware on day one of the event. Those delegates who are attending via either virtual or extended classroom will be required to provide either three monitors (to view courseware, labs and instructor demos simultaneously) or two monitors and a mobile device. Delegates will be required to have an active TCC (Training.Citrix.com) account in order to access course materials and labs. Please set up Your TCC account up in advance of the course using the following link: https://www.citrix.com/welcome/create-account/create-account-form.html Please note: It is highly recommended that the delegate uses a personal email address (rather than company email) to set up their TCC account. If you do not wish to reference your company name when setting up your TCC account we recommend you use 'EDUCALC' as reference. Should you encounter any issues in setting up your TCC account please ensure that you raise this directly with Citrix in advance of your event by visiting http://training.citrix.com then on the home page click, Help, then select Classroom Support, and submit a Critical or High priority request notifying Citrix of the course start date. Technical pre-requisites: Before taking this course, Citrix recommends that learners have the following: Significant experience already with Citrix XenApp (this course is not aimed at those delegates new to XenApp) Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or enterprise database servers Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Basic understanding of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Familiarity with application virtualization technologies, such as Citrix application streaming or Microsoft App-V Basic understanding of Windows Server networking concepts, such as DNS, IIS, load balancing, and file and printing services Exposure to basic system administration concepts, including logging, software upgrade procedures and high availability operations Familiarity with server monitoring tools Basic understanding of VPN concepts, including SSL encryption and certificates As stated above it is presumed that the delegate will have significant experience with Citrix XenApp. Existing XenApp experience should include: XenApp farm architecture concepts: Farm, Zone, Data Collector, and Data Store. Application publishing concepts and ICA/RDP protocol concepts. Web Interface server, its role in a XenApp/XenDesktop farm, and the Web Interface server involvement in client communication. Client software used to connect to a XenApp farm and how it works with Web Interface. Currently, this includes the Citrix Receiver/Citrix Online Plugin - full and Citrix Online Plugin - web. Administrators familiar with earlier versions of the products will be familiar with the Web client and PNAgent client terminology. XenApp policy basics consistent with XenApp 5 and earlier products. The instructor will explain briefly what's new in policy management for XenApp 6 and 6.5. It is expected that attendees are already familiar with the use of policies for XenApp 5 (or earlier) and the settings that can be managed using XenApp policies Special Notices Please note: Effective 10th of February 2014 Citrix course materials will only be available to delegates in e-courseware format. Delegates will be provided with instructions on how to access their e-courseware on day one of the event.

Delegates taking this course should have a minimum of one year experience administering Citrix XenApp or attended authorized Citrix training for XenApp 4.5 or higher.
