Appendix A RELEASE FORM Diversity Scholars Program Law School Scholarship The undersigned hereby confirms that he/she has submitted an application for a Mayer Brown Diversity Scholars Program Law School Scholarship (the Law School Scholarship ). As consideration for receipt of the Law School Scholarship, the undersigned hereby grants Mayer Brown, Wickersham & Taft ( Mayer Brown ) the right to use in all media, the name, photograph, biography and excerpts of, and from, the undersigned s scholarship application in connection with (i) the Law School Scholarship, (ii) publicity about the Diversity Scholars Program, (iii) newsletters, (iv) brochures and (v) other materials. The undersigned hereby acknowledges and agrees that the execution of this Release does not obligate Mayer Brown to (i) select the undersigned as a scholarship recipient or (ii) publish the undersigned s information or other materials. Application Checklist Prior to submitting your application, please make sure each of the following is included with your submission: A completed and signed application; A copy of your most current resume; A certified copy of your law school transcript; A writing sample; and A signed Release (Appendix A to Application) Eligibility Requirements In order to be eligible for a Mayer Brown Law School Scholarship, at the time of application, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements: be a full-time student, who is pursuing a J.D. degree at an ABA accredited law school ( Participating Law Schools ); have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 grading scale) at a Participating Law School; have no more than two full years of law school remaining until graduation from law school; be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America; participate in Mayer Brown s upcoming Summer Associate program; receive and accept an offer of full-time employment following participation in the firm s Summer Associate program; not be the recipient of a scholarship from another law firm for the school year in which the Mayer Brown Law School Scholarship will be awarded; not be an immediate family member of a Mayer Brown attorney or employee; and not be a firm client or an employee of a firm client. Selection Criteria The selection committee will make awards to students who have demonstrated the following: Academic achievement; Strong leadership skills; An ability to overcome adversity; A commitment to improving diversity in law school and the legal profession; A commitment to community service; A sincere interest in participating in Mayer Brown s Summer Associate Program; and Strong writing and communication skills. We will ask each applicant to submit a written statement that describes how they will support the Firm s diversity and inclusion efforts.
