Be sure to also read the general terms and conditions where applicable. What is Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? The Hong Leong Mach Debit Card is a payment and ATM card that is linked to your Money Box Deposit Account or your Hong Leong Current/Savings Account. You can immediately access your funds electronically, when you make purchases and withdraw cash at ATMs. What is the validity period of the Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? Hong Leong Mach Debit Card carries a 6 year validity period from the debit card generated date. To elaborate, a Debit Card generated in February 2010 will expire on February 2015. The Debit Card expiry date is embossed on the card face under the description "Good Thru", which means "Valid Until". Renewal should be done before the expiry date indicated on the card. One month before renewal, we will send you a letter or SMS to inform you to collect your renewal debit card from the branch that issued your debit card. What is the difference between the Hong Leong Mach Debit Card and the ATM Card? Unlike the ATM card, the Hong Leong Mach Debit Card allows you to make retail purchases at any outlet that displays the VISA, MEPS or Card logo. As such, the Debit Card gives you the flexibility to shop at over 29 million locations worldwide carrying the VISA logo and 26,000 locations locally that displays the MEPS or Card logo. The Debit Card also performs the function of an ATM card, providing you immediate access to your funds. I noticed the VISA PayWave logo on my credit card, what is it for? Credit Card carrying the VISA PayWave logo allows you to perform payment transactions quicker by just tapping your credit card on the contactless terminals. Do I need to enter PIN for contactless transactions? PIN is NOT required for contactless transactions within the limit of transaction amount. However, if the transactions exceed the pre-defined limit, you will be prompted to enter the PIN. What is the limit of contactless transaction amount? The limit of contactless transaction amount is capped at RM250 per transaction. If the amount transacted is above RM250, you are required to enter your PIN to complete the transaction or when you have hit the cumulative amount of RM400. 1
Application of Debit Card Who is eligible for Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? It is applicable to anyone aged 18 years and above with a Money Box Deposit Account. How can I apply for the Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? a. Visit any Mach by Hong Leong branch nearest to you b. Bring along your MyKad for verification and open a Money Box Deposit Account c. Existing Hong Leong Debit Card customers who open a Money Box Deposit Account will have their current Debit Card tagged to the Account instead of receiving a new Debit Card. How long does it take to receive a Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? You will get your Hong Leong Mach Debit Card instantly when you apply. What if there are two or more signatories (joint account) on my Savings or Current Account? All Joint Savings or Current account holders are eligible subject to the mandate either one to sign. Each joint accountholder will be issued with different Hong Leong Mach Debit Card. Separate cards allow each cardholder's transactions with different purchase limit, and it allows you to have separate PIN and signature. Debit Card ATM Facility Can I make ATM cash withdrawal outside Malaysia? Yes, you can enjoy the convenience of withdrawing cash at ATMs bearing the VISA or PLUS logo overseas. Just select the "cash advance" option to make the cash withdrawal at these ATM terminals. Alternatively, you can opt to use the Hong Leong cross-border ATM facility. The facility enables you to perform cross-border cash withdrawal via any ATMs at Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand bearing the MEPS or Card logo at only RM 8.00. This is a cheaper alternative compared to a withdrawal via Visa Plus ATMs at RM 12.00 per withdrawal. Do I need to activate my Debit Card to enable cross-border cash withdrawals? If yes, what are the steps required to activate the Debit Card? Go to the nearest Hong Leong ATM Insert your Debit Card, choose your language and enter your Debit Card PIN Select "Others" at Main Menu Select "Next Screen" at the Sub-Menu Select "Overseas Facility" Select "Activate" Enter the starting date to activate this feature Enter the ending date to stop this feature Retrieve Debit Card & Receipt. Retail Purchase What is my daily purchase limit? For security control, Hong Leong gives you the flexibility to choose the desired spend limit for your retail purchases from RM 1 to up to RM 5,000. If you do not change the retail purchase, we will extend to you a defaulted limit of RM2,000 with a maximum allowable limit RM 5,000 for generic cardholders. For Priority ing cardholders, you have an option of setting your retail purchase limit up to RM 10,000. 2
How can I change my retail purchase limit? You can personally reset your retail purchase limit via Hong Leong Connect (at www.hlb.com.my). Alternatively, walk into any Hong Leong branch and our bank officers will readily assist you to change your retail purchase limit. Where and how can I use my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? You can use your Hong Leong Mach Debit Card at any merchant that displays the Visa logo, and Visa is accepted at over 29 million locations worldwide. You can also use your Hong Leong Mach Debit Card at any merchants that displays the Card or MEPS logo accepted at over 26,000 locations locally via your card pin. Do I need to activate my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card for retail purchases out of Malaysia? No prior activation is required. You can use your Hong Leong Mach Debit Card abroad wherever the Visa or Visa Plus logo is displayed. Nevertheless, we strongly advice our customers to notify the prior to traveling purpose overseas for security purchase. What are the instances where holding-on-account is performed? The following transaction performed using the Debit Card will be pre-authorized and earmarked for a period of 7 days:- a. Hotel Check in b. Hospital admission check-in c. Petrol kiosk pre-authorization When you first swipe your debit card, the account will be earmarked for a prefixed amount by the merchant. After 3 days, the earmarked amount will be dropped and the actual purchase value will be debited into your primary account tagged to the debit card. I would like to pay for the RM amount pumped at petrol stations only and avoid the hold-onaccount. Is this possible? Yes. To avoid the hold-on-account for petrol transactions, all you need to do is to make upfront payment of the amount you wish to pump inside the Petrol Kiosk via the attendant. What are the possible reasons for debit card transaction to be declined? Possible reasons are:- a. Insufficient funds in your account (Savings or Current) b. Insufficient funds due to withholding of the pre-authorization amount at Petrol Station, Hotels and Hospitals. c. Transaction amount is more than the daily purchase limit set which is defaulted to RM 2,000 per day. You may change the daily retail purchase limit at any Hong Leong bank branch or personally via Hong Leong Connect. I have a Current and Savings Account. May I choose whichever account I would like to tag as my Primary Account? Yes, you can now select either your Savings Account or Current Account as the primary account for retail purchase transaction. Prior to this, the Savings Account was set as the defaulted Primary Account, while the Current Account is the Secondary Account in the event two different accounts are linked to the debit card. Nevertheless, should you have insufficient funds in the selected primary account (for example the Savings Account), you will need to transfer the amount from your Current Account to your Savings Account before using the Debit Card. Note: The Dream Jar Savings Account will not be tagged to the Hong Leong Mach Debit Card. 3
I will be traveling and I would like to temporarily increase my retail purchase limit. Is this possible? You have the option to temporarily increase your Retail Purchase Limit by calling the Hong Leong Contact Centre at 03-7626 8899.The maximum temporary limit allowable is up to RM10,000 for non-priority ing Debit Cardholders and RM20, 000 for Priority ing Debit Cardholders. The maximum duration allowed to utilize the temporary increase in retail purchase limit is one month. Upon the expiry date, the retail purchase limit will revert to your defaulted limit. Internet Purchase Limit How can I change my Internet Purchase Limit? You can personally reset your Internet Purchase Limit via Hong Leong Connect (at www.hlb.com.my). Click here for steps. Alternatively, walk into any Hong Leong branch where your account is maintained and our bank officers will readily assist you to change your retail purchase limit. Renewal How do I renew my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? Prior to the expiry date, you will be reminded to renew your Hong Leong Mach Debit Card via a letter or our Short Messaging Services (SMS) as determined by the from time to time. Kindly visit the nearest Mach by Hong Leong branch to obtain your replacement card instantly. Report of Loss Card What should I do if my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card is stolen or lost? You can immediately: a. Report to Hong Leong s 24-Hours Customer Service Center at 03-7626 8899 for lost card within Malaysia or overseas. Alternatively, you can call the VISA Travel Service Centre or its nearest affiliates for overseas card loss. b. For Priority ing customers, kindly call the Priority ing Toll Free Number at 1800-18-9000 for lost card notification to the. Notification has to be made to the in person or via telephone, telegram, facsimile, e-mail, and confirmation of the same has to be made in writing, accompanied by a police report. Security Features What security features does the Hong Leong Mach Debit Card possess? Authorization required: You must sign on the transaction slip to approve the payment amount. For e- debit purchase, you are required to key-in your PIN number on the pin pad at point of purchase. Minimum Defaulted Retail Purchase limit: The defaulted retail purchase limit is RM1, 000.You can decrease or increase this limit at any branch or change personally via the Hong Leong Online. Telephone ing Services: Our Self Service Phone ing and Hong Leong Call Centre always open to assist you in blocking you Debit Card in order to prevent any misuse in case of it being lost or stolen. Will I be reimbursed if a fraudulent transaction occurs via my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? In the event your card is lost or stolen, and if any unauthorised transactions have been made on your card, your losses will be limited to RM150*.Our Call Centre is open 24/7 to assist you in blocking your Debit Card in order to prevent any misuse in case of it being lost or stolen. *Provided you have exercise diligent care in safeguarding the card and promptly reported its loss to the (For card loss in Malaysia) or the VISA Travel Service Centre or its nearest affiliates (For card loss overseas). When using my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card at the ATM, the screen says "card is invalid". Why is this, and what should I do next? Your debit card cannot be "read" by the ATM machine. Some of the possible causes of this are faulty card chip or your card may have been blocked for security reasons. You may call our Hong Leong Contact Centre for assistance, or walk into any Mach by Hong Leong branch to have your card replaced immediately once we have confirmed that the card chip is faulty. How can I get my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card replaced if it is lost, stolen, damaged or faulty? Please visit any Mach by Hong Leong branch to have your Hong Leong Mach Debit Card replaced. The replacement cost is RM18. Miscellaneous I am a foreigner with other bank's Debit Card. Can I use my ATM Card at Hong Leong bank ATMs? Yes you can. The Hong Leong ATMs bear the Visa Plus logo and this gives you access to ATM facilities in Malaysia. Can I use the Easy Payment Plan (EPP) facility for purchases with my Hong Leong Mach Debit Card? No. MyPal Convenience Line Read this Product Disclosure Sheet before you decide to take up the MyPAL. Be sure to also read the general terms and conditions where applicable. What is this product? MyPAL is a RM200 convenience line available to Money Box Deposit Accountholders. What do I get from this product? MyPAL allows debit transactions such as ATM withdrawals, online debit transactions or debit card purchases up to the maximum line given when your Money Box account has insufficient balances. Who can apply for MyPAL? Existing Money Box Deposit accountholders between the ages of 21 to 55 year olds are eligible for this product subject to criteria. How can I apply for this product? The application for MyPAL can be done via Mach by Hong Leong branch premises. The customer is required to present their MyKAD and a valid EPF statement printed not more than two (2) months from application date; or a valid Offer Letter of Employment issued not more than three (3) months from application date. What are the fees and charges that I have to pay? RM15 will be charged as a convenience fee per transaction. When should I repay the MyPAL amount that I have used? You are expected to repay the transacted amount within three (3) days inclusive of transaction day. 5
What are the major risks? There will be risks involved if you are unable to repay the amount owed within the given time period. The reserves the right to transfer any monies from your existing Hong Leong or Mach by Hong Leong Deposit accounts to settle the outstanding amount. Note that you may be prohibited from the continued usage of MyPAL even after repayment has been made. What are my obligations? The only obligation for MyPAL is the transacted amount and the convenience fee charged per transaction. Do I need a guarantor or collateral? No. When can I use this product? MyPAL can be transacted whenever you have insufficient or zero balances. What happens when I use MyPAL? You are allowed to transact as many times in a single day until you reach RM200. However, once MyPAL has been utilized, your Money Box Deposit Account will be blocked at end-of-day regardless of whether or not you have reached the RM200 limit. A SMS will be sent out at the following day to alert the customer that their account has been blocked, the amount that is to be repaid, & the date they have to repay by. They are expected to repay the transacted amount (inclusive of the convenience fee) within the next 48 hours. Further withdrawal transactions will be disallowed. However, deposit / credit transactions can still be performed. When the customer has repaid the amount owed, the account will be unblocked the following day.please take note that balance enquiries performed at all Mach by Hong Leong / HLBB / HLISB ATMs, your available balance will include the MyPAL limit. See illustration below: Money Box accountholder with MyPal: Amount in Money Box Available balance Allowed to withdraw up to :RM200 :RM400 (inclusive of MyPal of RM200) : RM390 Important Notes: a. Can I cancel the MyPAL convenience line? Yes. You can terminate MyPAL via Hong Leong Connect at any point in time provided if: 1. Your account does not have a debit balance; or 2. Your account does not have earmarked balances. What should I do if there are changes to my contact details? The must be informed of any changes to your contact details as soon as possible to ensure all correspondences reach you in a timely manner. You may call us at 03-7626 8899 to make the changes.
