Metadata Metadata is a set of parameters which controls the encoding of PCM into a multichannel compressed format such as Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3) and the decoding back to PCM. Operational metadata is any metadata parameter that is required for the Dolby Digital Plus decoder to reconstruct the audio samples. All other metadata parameters fall into the Informational metadata group. Informational metadata parameters might provide an indication to the playback system, or even to the end-user, but do not change the way the audio is decoded.
Important Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3) metadata parameters ialnorm: RC: ownmix: Indicates the long term A-weighted loudness level Leq(A) of the associated audio. Essential for proper loudness management. Selects predefined compression mode based on both the rendering equipment and the type of content. Essential for intelligibility and listening comfort Controls how a multichannel surround program will be rendered on Pro-logic, stereo or mono receivers. The secret of the Multiscreen Advantage hannel coding: Specifies the number of channels in the program and their physical arrangement. Essential for proper multichannel sound reproduction

Object-oriented Audio - Possibilities Static Rendering Audio objects are rendered in a fixed arrangement into a playback environment. Enhanced audio experience through: More creativity (precision & control) Full ambience, stronger impact Takes 3D surround into the room (away from the walls) Scalable playback, optimized for any playback environment
Object-oriented Audio - Possibilities Dynamic Rendering Audio objects are rendered in a user-customizable way into the playback environment. Possibility for a personalized audio experience: Barrier-free: audio-description, dialog intelligibility, multi-language Playback customizable to personal preferences by the audience! Pre-defined mixes (neutral atmosphere vs. in the fan block A/B, ) Activation/positioning of additional audio objects in living room (e.g. UGC, Skype, )
