Sunday 10:00am Sung Mass Pro Populo 12 noon Holy Mass Mary McGrath & Dora Kenny (ann.) 6.30pm Holy Mass Tony McAndrew RIP (ann.) Today at St Jude s Saturday Vigil 6.30pm - Holy Mass Leon Goupil RIP Sunday 10.30am Holy Rosary 11.00am Sung Mass Mick Jeffers The readings and prayers for Mass today are on page 124 of the Parish Mass book. The Rite of Mass is on page 8. The first reading, from the Book of the Apocalypse, speaks of the Ark of the Covenant, and then relates this to the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Ark of the Covenant was, for the people of Israel, that sacred object which contained the stones on which Moses inscribed the commandments, the word of God. As it contained something very precious, something touched by the finger of God, the Ark of the Covenant was held in great reverence, and was covered - inside and out - with pure gold. One of the titles the Church has long given Our Lady, is Ark of the Covenant, for she was privileged to contain within herself the very Word of God made flesh in Jesus Christ. That from the moment of her conception she lived a life of complete giftedness to God - that she was covered inside and out with the pure gold of God s grace. Therefore, in the Blessed Virgin Mary, we see humanity as it is meant to be lived a life lived in complete friendship with God. And on the feast of the Assumption of Mary into the glory of heaven, we see where a life lived in friendship and communion with God is destined to lead! Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ! Today we welcome to the Parish Fr. Simon Baker as he begins his priestly ministry among us. I m sure you will all warmly welcome him amongst us, and remember him each day in your prayers. Fr Philip
