15 Upgrading to LiveCycle Production Print ES2 This chapter describes how to upgrade to the LiveCycle Production Print ES2 software. To upgrade from LiveCycle Production Print previous releases to ES2, you install the ES2 software, as described in Installing LiveCycle Production Print ES2 on page 7, and then open your existing Projects. The Design Center environment will then automatically (after your confirmation) upgrade the Project. Note: You will not be able to open an upgraded Project in previous versions of the product. You have to manually change the resource type of previously imported XDP templates, from resource type Sample to XDP Template. If you try to use an XDP resource that has not been changed to XDP Template, the system will issue an error message. Prerequisite The LiveCycle Production Print ES2 software is installed. See Installing on Windows on page 11 or Installing on UNIX on page 14. To upgrade a Project to LiveCycle Production Print ES2 1 Open the Project. 2 If your XDP resources are not already of resource type XDP Template, you have to manually convert them to XDP Template. See the StreamServe Design Center documentation. 3 Open the Process and select the Open/Select Template command. Verify that the correct resource is assigned. 4 Save and re-export the Project. Upgrading the document service component (DSC) To upgrade to LiveCycle Production Print ES2 and Adobe LiveCycle to ES2, you have to upgrade your DSC deployed in the LiveCycle server. 1 Get new version of LiveCycle Production Print ES2 DSC, lcppdsc.jar, from the installation media directory /Extras. 2 Open LiveCycle Workbench and connect and to the upgraded LiveCycle server or LiveCycle ES2 instance. 3 Navigate to the Components view. Here you will find the ProductionPrint service.
16 Upgrading to LiveCycle Production Print ES2 4 If the ProductionPrint service is running, right click and select Stop. 5 Right click the service, and select Patch. 6 Browse to and select the new version of LiveCycle Production Print DSC. 7 Right click the service and select Start. Note: An alternative way to do this is to uninstall the previous version and then install the new version. Patching retains all service level configurations for the previous version. Uninstalling resets all configurations to the new versions default values.
17 Verifying the installation You can use the Sample Project, provided on the installation media, to verify that the installation and the Project upgrade went OK. See the LiveCycle Production Print ES2 User Guide, The Sample Project chapter.
