Offertory rayer page 107 5 onfession & Forgiveness Nathan said to David, The ord has put away your sin; you shall not die. We come before you, ord, seeking your forgiveness. Almighty and Everlasting God, you are a God rich in forgiveness: God of grace we confess that we have not followed you in all that we say and do, that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed. We confess our broken relationships, our weak discipleship, and our basic insecurities. Renew us with your Spirit; give us strength of faith and courage to be disciples of faith, hope and love. Thus it is written, that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins must be proclaimed in his name. That Word is now proclaimed to you. We come before you, ord, ready to receive good gifts from you. Amen. Words of Institution page 108 The ord s rayer page 112 [Traditional Version] Invitation to ommunion page 112 (lease be seated) uther s statement on Holy ommunion What is communion? It is the true body and blood of our ord Jesus hrist, under the bread and the wine, instituted by hrist himself for us hristians to eat and drink. In this sacrament is given to us the forgiveness of sins, and where there is forgiveness of sins there is life and salvation. We have, therefore, two principal sacraments in the church, baptism and the bread. Baptism leads us into a new life on earth; the bread guides us through death into eternal life. Finally, the blessing of this sacrament is fellowship and love, by which we are strengthened against death and all evil. This fellowship is twofold: on the one hand we partake of hrist and all saints, on the other hand we permit all hristians to be partakers of us, in whatever way they and we are able; so that by this sacrament all self-seeking love is uprooted and gives place to love which seeks the common good of all, and through this mutual love there is one bread, one drink, one body, one community, --that is the true union of hristian brethren. all to ommunion ommunion Hymn #481 ome to the Table #484 You Satisfy the Hungry Heart

Baptism is not simply water, but it is the water connected with God s Word. What benefits does baptism confer? It works forgiveness of sins, delivers from death and the devil, and gives everlasting salvation to all who believe. It is not the just the water that does it, but the Word of God, which is in and with the water, and faith which trusts this Word of God in the water.
