Naresuan University 171 Doctor of Philosophy Program in Microbiology The time is critical now for graduate education and research in Microbiology. Numerous professional careers are in demand in academic and industrial research, teaching, and services in public and private sectors where microbiology has an impact. The program supports a variety of research topics. However, the stars within our faculty are in the forefront, with co-operation from world-class researchers abroad, in the areas of Bacterial Antibiotic Resistance and Biodiversity, especially in the study of yeast as a microorganism. We are proud of our recipients of the Royal Golden Jubilee research grants awarded by the Thailand Research Fund.

172 Naresuan University Objectives The Ph.D. program in microbiology places emphases on research and training for professional careers in microbiology research and leadership. The specific objectives are listed below: To disseminate in-depth advanced knowledge in microbiology as a prerequisite to mastering systematic analytical thinking and competence in data synthesis as well as fostering an inquiring mind capable of self-directed life-long learning. To nurture skills and potential in microbiological inquiries leading to the development of modern technology. Skills acquired are for discovering new findings for sustainable development in societies and communities. To instill leadership with professional ethics so as to serve as a model in the society. Admission In accordance with the Graduate School Rules and Regulations. The program committee reserves the rights to require more qualifications as deemed appropriate.
