STUDENT TRAINEESHIP GRANT APPLICATION POLICIES AND GUIDELINES The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation offers Student Traineeships to Introduce students to research related to cystic fibrosis, and develop and maintain interest in this area of biomedicine. REQUIREMENTS Applicants must be bona fide students in or about to enter a doctoral program (i.e. Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D.). Applicants need not be U.S. citizens or hold a U.S. permanent visa to apply for this award. International applicants and institutions are required to submit additional information in accordance with U.S. anti-terrorist restrictions. Senior level undergraduate students planning to pursue graduate training may also apply. Previous research experience is not a requirement. Applicants must work with a faculty sponsor on a research project related to cystic fibrosis. The project should be for the duration of 10 weeks or more. FUNDING The maximum award amount is $1,500. (Up to $300 may be requested for project-related research supplies and other expenses.) The grant will be paid to the Sponsoring Institution. Recipients of these traineeships may reapply for support in a subsequent year. APPLICATION PROCEDURES Students must submit the attached Student Traineeship grant application, including the following: Face Page countersigned by the Authorized Institutional Official Concise description of the research project (not to exceed 3 pages) o Hypothesis o Description of experiments o Analysis and expected outcomes Budget Sponsor's biographical sketch Letter of support from the sponsor Email the completed application as a PDF attachment to grants@cff.org. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but should be submitted at least two months prior to the projected start date of the project. AWARD & REPORTING Applicants will be notified by email. If awarded, payments will be made to the Sponsoring Institution in two equal installments in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the grant. The final installment will be issued after submission and approval of a final progress report and expense report. The final progress report should include the results and/or achievements of the project. All reports are due within 90 days after completion of the project or the final payment will be subject to forfeiture.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION Maximum: Three pages. Applicant s Name: Provide a concise description of the proposed project. Briefly state the hypothesis to be studied, its relationship to cystic fibrosis, methods to be used (experimental design), and expected outcomes from the study.
