Project title Sustainable & competitive Tuscany for tourism, towards an integrated network of local tourism observatories The project involves 50 municipalities

Objectives 1. To implement the EU Agenda on sustainable & competitive tourism (COM 621/2007) 2. To create the regional network of tourist competitive destinations 3. Test NECSTouR s model, namely its 10 topics, in order to plan and monitor local policies and action on tourist destinations An operative instrument: Local Tourism Observatory

Activities (steps) Expected results 1. Setting up a partnership 2. Setting up a steering committee 3. Carrying out a SWOT analysis (centred around NECSTouR s 10 topics) 4. INDICATORS : Inclusive Management Practices Presence of a destination management organisation that involving public and private stakeholders in decision making processes for tourism development and promotion Existence of sustainable tourism strategy/ action plan for the destination (with agreed monitoring and evaluation arrangement) Does your visitor information contain details about state of environment, public transport, labelled accommodation, protected areas, etc.

INDICATORS: Protecting and enhancing local cultural identity and assets Number of cultural SITES and heritage monuments Percentage of residents who believe that tourism is: Damaging /Helps maintain the distinctiveness and local identity, culture and heritage of the Destination Percentage of residents who believe that tourism is: Damaging, Helps maintain, Helps improve the quality of life of local residents in the destination
