CAUTION 3. To reduce risk of injury, charge only with AC adaptor and charging cord supplied. Other chargers may cause battery to burst causing injury to persons and damage. 4. Do not expose chargers to rain, moisture, or snow. 5. Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. 6. To reduce risk of damage to AC adaptor and 12 volt charging cord, pull out by plug rather than cord when disconnecting chargers. 7. Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. 8. Do not operate chargers with damaged cord or cigarette lighter connector - replace it immediately. 9. Do not operate Spotlight or chargers if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way; take it to a qualified service person. 10. Do not disassemble Spotlight or chargers; take it to a qualified serviceperson when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire. 11. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug charger before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Turning off controls will not reduce this risk. 12. This AC adaptor is intended to be correctly orientated in a vertical or floor mount position. 2
THIS SPOTLIGHT MUST BE FULLY CHARGED FOR 16 HOURS BEFORE FIRST USE. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY PERMANENTLY DAMAGE BATTERY. (See section on charging) IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS! CAUTION Spotlight becomes very hot during use. DO NOT touch lens or block lens area during operation. DO NOT place the unit on surfaces that may be damaged from heat. DO NOT operate unit or place this product near flammable materials or use in any location where flammable fumes may accumulate. Allow the unit to cool before storing. Light is very powerful. DO NOT shine into the eyes of humans or animals. Unit is not waterproof. DO NOT use Spotlight under water or immerse in water. DO NOT recharge the spotlight with any other adaptors than those supplied with the unit. This item is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children.! WARNING Contains non-spillable sealed lead acid battery. DO NOT expose battery to fire or intense heat as it may explode. Battery contains acid. If case should become cracked, dispose of immediately taking adequate safety precautions to prevent injuries or damage to persons or property. Battery must be recycled or disposed of properly. Failure to follow instructions may cause damage or explosion hazard. Contact of battery acid may cause blindness or severe burns. First aid: If contact with battery acid occurs, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water, then wash with soap and water. Get immediate medical attention if redness, irritation or pain is present. For eye contact flush eyes for at least 15 minutes and get immediate medical attention SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE CAUTION Recharge spotlight as soon as possible after light becomes dim. DO NOT leave spotlight in total discharged state for an extended period of time. Keep battery power topped up. Unlike some rechargeable batteries, frequent charging will not harm and will in fact improve the performance of the internal battery.! DO NOT continuously charge spotlight for more than 24 hours. Damage could result to the battery.! DO NOT operate spotlight while charging. This will permanently damage the unit. Keep the switch in the off O position at all times during charging operation.! DO NOT recharge spotlight with any other adaptors than those supplied with the unit. 3
Welcome This spotlight has been carefully engineered and manufactured to give you dependable operation. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating your new product, as it contains the information you need to become familiar with its features (shown below) and obtain the performance that will bring your continued enjoyment for many years. Please keep this manual on file for future reference. CHARGING INSTRUCTION CAUTION Spotlight has a maintenance free, built in sealed lead acid battery. Although the unit arrives partially charged from the factory, it MUST BE FULLY CHARGED FOR 16 HOURS BEFORE FIRST USE. This initial charge pre-conditions the battery. Failure to follow this procedure may permanently damage the battery. Spotlight is supplied with an AC adaptor for charging from household wall socket (110 volt) and a D.C. adaptor for charging from 12 volt vehicle lighter socket. Locate charging jack on side of Spotlight and plug selected charger adaptor in. Plug into appropriate power source. The red light located beside the jack will illuminate indicating Spotlight is charging. If the indicator light fails to illuminate, check power source to make sure it is live. Light remains on as long as it is connected to a power source. Subsequent recharging will take approximately 14 hours with the AC adaptor and 12 hours with the DC adaptor to reach full charge from discharged state. NOTE: Some vehicles' cigarette lighters and 12 Volt power ports do not operate unless the ignition switch is in the accessory position. Unit is not intended for permanent installation in a vehicle. NOTE: AC Adaptor and Spotlight will become warm during charging. Red light remains illuminated througout charging process. Unplug charger after spotlight is fully charged. Wait 5 minutes before using. Battery will hold its charge for a period of time. However, we recommend recharging your spotlight every 2 months if not in use. Important note: Spotlight will not operate while in charging mode with both the AC charger and with the DC charger. 4
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS To operate Spotlight, rotate the EZ switch on the side of the unit to the ON position. Turn off after use to conserve battery power. Turn As soon as light starts to dim, turn off unit and recharge as soon as possible. Do not continue to operate light. Completely discharging the battery could permanently damage the battery and prevent capability to recharge. Carry strap Press clip and secure to eyelet on light. AC recharge is recommended after each use or every two months when not in frequent use. Use the AC charger and charge for the recommended time. If the unit gets dirty, gently clean the outer surfaces of Spotlight with a soft cloth moistened with a mild solution of water and detergent. Do not use solvents or other chemical cleaners. Periodically inspect the condition of charging adapters, connectors, and wires. Replace any components that may have become worn or broken. These parts are not serviceable. Do 5
not open or disassemble. Service on Spotlight is confined to replaceable parts only. All other servicing should be performed by a qualified service personnel only. Spotlight is equipped with a long life LED bulb which will give many years of dependable service if properly cared for following the directions above. This bulb is non replaceable and non serviceable MOVING AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS Unit becomes hot during operation. Allow to cool before cleaning, servicing or storage. Store in a cool, dry place. Fuse Replacement - 12 volt adapter plug This 12 volt plug is fitted with a 2A fuse in the tip. Should fuse need replacing, unscrew end cap and replace with a new 2A fuse.! CAUTION FOR CONTINUED PROTECTION AGAINST RISK OF FIRE, REPLACE ONLY WITH SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE Battery This unit is equipped with 4 Volt maintenance free, sealed lead acid rechargeable battery, which will give many years of dependable service if properly cared for following the directions above. In the event that the battery needs replacement in the future, have a qualified service professional replace the battery. Be sure to connect red wire to positive terminal of replacement battery and black wire to negative terminal. Replace and reassemble. Replacement batteries may be purchased from an electrical supply store. Old battery should be disposed of properly and safely. Some states require recycling. Please contact your local solid waste authority for recycling information. WARNING! DO NOT expose battery to fire or intense heat as it may explode. Battery contains acid. Limited Warranty Superex warrants to the original purchaser that this product is free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not extend to subsequent purchasers or users. Superex will, during the warranty period, repair or replace the product free of charge. A defective unit may be replaced with a new or reconditioned unit of same or similar design. Superex will, at its option, use new or reconditioned parts in performing warranty repairs. This product is not intended for commercial use and, if so used, will immediately void the warranty. Superex Canada Ltd. assumes no obligation to pay the consumer a cash refund. This Warranty does not cover the failure of, or damage to the product that results from accident, alteration, abuse, misuse, neglect, normal wear and tear (e.g. scratches, chips, dents or discoloration) or failure to follow operating instructions, nor does this Warranty cover damage caused by the use of any attachment not originally equipped with this product. Safely package the unit, preferably in its original packing and box, along with a copy of your dated proof of purchase and a short note with your name, address, phone number and a brief description of the problem. Ship the unit PREPAID to the address supplied to you. Do not include any accessories (e.g. cables) with your unit. Make sure to clearly mark the RMA number on the outside of the shipping carton. Superex will examine your unit and at its option, either repair or replace the unit. In either case, the unit will be returned to you freight prepaid within 4 weeks of receipt.
