Sheet-Steel Substations Sheet-steel substations with control aisle Base frame The substation enclosure consists of a self-supporting base frame made of hot-dip galvanised steel girders with oil sump. Cables are introduced from below through the corresponding openings. For installation and sealing towards the ground, a foundation is required that has to be constructed locally. Enclosure structure The upper part of the substation consists of hot-dip galvanised steel profiles bolted together to a robust structure. They are covered on the outside with painted steel or aluminium sheet panels in sandwich construction with 60 mm thermal insulation. The aisle areas in front of the switchgear panels are covered with screwed on timber plates. Roof The roof is made of insulated double steel sheet panels with glass fibre reinforced plastic coating. It is equipped with a surrounding cover made of aluminium, and a rain water drainage. Doors The doors consist of an aluminium sandwich construction with thermal insulation and neoprene sealing. The hinges and fixing screws are made of stainless steel. Every door features a central lock for profile cylinders, a three-point rod interlocking with panic lock, and an automatic door retainer. Ventilation The outside walls of the transformer room are designed as ventilation elements. They are composed of steel profile elements with insect protection, staggered with intermediate spaces. Compact sheet-steel substations Foundation The substation enclosure consists of a steel-reinforced concrete foundation with a transformer oil sump. To introduce the cables, bushings type Hauff HSI 150 or 90 are available. Instead of the concrete foundation, a hot-dip galvanised base frame made of steel can be used for a local foundation. Enclosure structure A hot-dip galvanised frame structure is installed on the foundation, with the door frames, the section walls and the side walls mounted on. These units are either made of galvanised sheet steel (type S) or of 60 mm thick steel sheet panels in sandwich construction with thermal insulation (type SIK). Roof The roof is built of glass fibre reinforced plastics or aluminium sheet, with insulating PU foam for thermal insulation and a glass fibre reinforced plastic coating. Alternatively, a double layer aluminium roof with granulate filling can be used. Doors The doors consist of galvanised sheet steel or an aluminium sandwich construction with thermal insulation and neoprene seals. The hinges and fixing bolts are made of stainless steel. Every door features a central lock for profile cylinders, a three-point rod interlock with panic lock and an automatic door retainer. Outside walls The outside walls of the transformer room are designed as ventilation elements. They are made of steel profile elements with insect protection, staggered with intermediate spaces.. A hot-dip galvanised frame structure, the door frames and the section walls are fastened to the foundation. The side walls are made of concrete slabs and are bolted together with the frame. Galvanised sheet-steel walls divide the substation structure into a medium-voltage and a low-voltage room, with the transformer room located in between. The roof consists of a single-piece concrete slab. The doors arranged at the front are made of an aluminium structure. Every door features a central lock for profile cylinders (single or double lock), a three-point rod interlocking, and an automatic door retainer. The hinges and fixing screws are made of stainless steel. The ventilation elements are designed as doors, comprising a sheet-steel frame with lamellae and insect protection. The interlocking linkage for opening the ventilation doors is operated from the medium-voltage room. In the substation BK 005 all components (frames, concrete slabs, ) can be replaced individually if required. The medium-voltage switchgear installed are small SF6-insulated switchgear assemblies up to 24 kv, make Siemens, with switchdisconnectors or circuit-breakers. If necessary, a metering panel can be additionally installed for medium-voltage metering. Other oil-immersed or cast-resin transformers can also be installed considering the maximum rating and the installation dimensions. The low-voltage system is especially designed for installation in compact sub stations. It is a type-tested open distribution board mounted on the section wall of the LV room. The switching devices used are switch-disconnectors and compact circuit-breakers, as well as in-line fuse switch-disconnectors. Depending on the requirements, the distribution board can be equipped with 2(3) measuring locations for low-voltage metering. 8 Compact Concrete Substation Detailed Description The substation structure consists of highly resistant steel-reinforced concrete with the resistance class C35/45 and the exposure classes XC4, XF1 and XA1 according to DIN 1045-2 EN 206. An integrated cable basement is simultaneously used as a foundation, so that cables can be introduced covered with soil. The transformer room is designed as an oil sump, offering the necessary water protection without additional coating due to the liquid tightness quality of the concrete. The separation walls can be reduced down to the threshold height. Two double-leaf aluminium doors and up to two ventilation elements are part of the substation equipment. One ventilation element is designed with a plug fan optionally a fan door for revision of the transformer room, the other ventilation opening can optionally be closed with a plug fan. The roof is built as a separated roof plate with a light inclination to two sides. It is mounted in a sliding way and can be removed for replacement of the transformer or the equipment. A large selection of colour and surface designs allow any kind of adaptation to the environment. The concrete cell unit with cable basement is built in one piece. The false floor can be composed of concrete, or aluminium pressed rod profiles, and/or galvanized steel profiles, as well as of galvanised steel supports adjustable in height, prepared for switchgear installation. The aisles are covered with composite timber boards and locked. A spatial division of the concrete cell, e.g. into medium-voltage, low-voltage, metering or transformer rooms, is possible by means of 10 cm thick indoor concrete walls. The flat roof is a separate, removable, prefabricated unit, designed as a pan roof with a 5 cm gravel layer, and mounted on the cell in a sliding way. An aluminium drainage pipe with free outlet or channel interface is provided for. Doors Depending on the constructional facts, the aluminium doors can be designed with one or two leaves. The door hinge of the single-leaf door can be optionally designed as DIN left or DIN right. As standard, the doors are equipped with mechanical door retainers and a copper earthing strip. In addition, the doors can be equipped with ventilation elements and pressure relief units of different sizes. The substation lock with an emergency exit function according to DIN VDE 101 and 3-point interlocking can be optionally provided for single and double profile cylinders. Personal Safety According to IEC 62271-202 Ventilation systems Sufficient air intake and outlet, especially in the transformer area, is implemented via insect-proof and prod-proof ventilation systems. The aluminium elements have a large free ventilation cross-section and are suitable for door and wall installation. The ventilation systems have the degree of protection IP23-DH according to DIN EN 60529 (VDE 0470 Part 1), and have been tested in the system with concrete sub stations in accordance with DIN EN 62271-202. Cable entry Incoming and outgoing cables are routed through water pressure tight cable glands make Hauff. The so-called sealing packaging can be flushmounted with the concrete at any point of the concrete substation.
