BUYING GUIDE MYSA Quilts Synthetic fibres Cellulose fibres Down/feathers Temperature-regulating lining Choose your bed temperature! A comfortably warm quilt helps you sleep well and wake up feeling rested. The quilt that s just right for you depends on how warm you are, if you share it with someone else and the temperature of your bedroom. That s why each MYSA quilt has a warmth from 1 6, so you can find the one that helps you sleep best. And even if you sometimes feel too hot and sometimes feel too cold, MYSA offers a warmth rating 1+3, which gives you three quilts in one, so you re always covered. Machine washable at 60 C Tumble-dry All the products (shown here) may not be available at the store. Please contact the staff or look at www.ikea.com.sg for more information. For more detailed product information, see the pricetag and the Internet.

WHEN YOU RE CHOOSING A QUILT IT S A GOOD IDEA TO think about this Our quilts come in different warmth rates. From 1, which is coolest, to 6, which is warmest. We also have an all-season quilt which is two quilts with different warmth rates that can be used together or separately. So a good place to start is thinking about whether you feel cold or warm when you sleep. know about this Within each warmth rating there are different filling materials synthetic, cellulose and down/feathers, each with its own benefits. For children, it s best to choose a quilt that s cool, breathes well and is easy to wash. You can find quilts for babies at Children s IKEA. FILLING MATERIAL Synthetic fibres Our synthetic quilts are very easy to care for. The fibres allow air to circulate and retain heat in the quilt. Synthetic quilts can be washed often, which makes them a good choice for people with allergies. During the wash, the fibres are spread evenly throughout the quilt and regain their fluffiness without the quilt losing its shape or its ability to retain heat. Another advantage of synthetic quilts is that they dry more quickly after being washed. Cellulose fibres Some of our synthetic quilts contain modal, Some of our synthetic quilts contain lyocell, a cellulose fibre derived from wood pulp. In addition to sharing the same positive properties in the wash as synthetic quilts, lyocell breathes well and absorbs perspiration and draws it away. As a result, this combination of cellulose and synthetic fibres produces a fluffy, easy-to-care-for quilt, which keeps you dry and warm all night long. Down/feathers Down and feather fillings are good at absorbing perspiration and drawing it away. At the same time they retain the heat so that you stay dry and warm. Down contributes fluffiness and warmth to a quilt, while feathers give the filling its resilience. This means that the more down a quilt contains, the softer and warmer it is. Temperature-regulating lining In addition to its lyocell and synthetic fibre filling, MYSA LJUNG quilt contains a temperature-regulating lining. It absorbs and stores body heat when you re too hot and gives the heat back if you get cold. The temperature stays at a constant level and you can continue to sleep comfortably all night long. 2

OUTER FABRIC We cover our quilts filled with synthetic and lyocell fibres with an outer fabric made from 100 percent lyocell, or a blend of lyocell and cotton. Lyocell breathes efficiently and is effective in absorbing perspiration and drawing it away. The fabric stays wrinkle-free, but nevertheless feels soft and silky smooth against the skin. The covers on our down/feather quilts are made of 100 percent cotton. Just like other natural materials, cotton breathes very well. Good air circulation means that if the pillow gets damp, it will dry quickly. Together with down and feathers, which also dry quickly, a cotton cover gives you a dry environment in which to sleep with an even temperature closest to your body. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR QUILT Mites thrive in warm, dark, humid environments like beds. That s why you should wash your quilt, as well as your sheets, quilt cover and pillowcases fairly often. All IKEA quilts can be washed at 60 C (the temperature at which mites die) and tumble-dried on normal heat. Air out your quilt frequently so that it dries properly. That will keep it fresher for longer. It is a good idea, as well, to wait an hour or two each morning before covering your quilt with a bedspread. Synthetic quilts are very easy to look after and can be washed time and time again. They also dry quickly. Our quilts filled with a blend of synthetic fibres and cellulose fibres can be washed in the same manner as our synthetic quilts. These quilts also dry quickly and can be washed often. When washing quilts with down/feather fillings you should use only one third of the normal amount of washing detergent. Place a couple of tennis balls together with the quilt in the tumble-dryer. This will help the filling to regain its fluffiness and dry more quickly after the wash. But be sure that none of the colour is transferred from the tennis balls to the quilt. The quilt should be completely dry before you use it. Do not vacuum or beat a quilt to clean it, as this can destroy the natural properties of down and feathers. 3
