Threadlockers, sealants and adhesives
Threadlockers and thread sealants The threadlockers are used to prevent loosening in a joint. At the same time the cured adhesive keeps moisture and, for example corrosive substances, out of the joint and the surrounding structure. The thread sealants are used to create a tight seal to the joint, that can resist any external disruption, such as pressure or vibration, without causing a leak. Leaks can also appear if the interlocking surfaces in the thread aren t level, which is why it is important that the sealers have good capillarity properties. By using Ergo - threadlockers and sealers tight and holding joints can be achieved. These adhesives fill the backlash superbly thanks to their good capillarity properties, they also resist well external disruptions such as pressure, vibration and chemicals. 2
The most important criteria choosing threadlocker/sealant: Thread size / backlash Choose the correct viscosity, for small sized thread low viscosity possessing product, and for large sized threads high viscosity possessing product. Temperature the temperature in the application. External factors exposure, for example some type of chemical. Strength how easily the joint is needed to be dismantled. Instructions: Apply the locker/sealer directly to the surface, which has to be clean and dry before application. The cure time depends on the catalytic effect of the metal as well as the size of the thread. When locking passive materials, the cure time tends to be longer than with active metals. The bigger the thread, the longer the curing takes. The temperature also affects the cure time. In the temperature of +5 C, the cure time is much more shorter than in +20 C. The recommended temperature for applying of locker/sealer is +20 +25 C. Active materials: Passive materials: brass, bronze, copper, steel and aluminiums. nickel, zinc, tin, precious metals, high-alloy steels, oxide- and chromatic surfaces. 3
