Course Overview Course Overview The focus of this course is the usage, configuration and administration of the SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC). Target Audience This course is intended for the following audiences: Users of the NWBC Administrators of the NWBC Course Prerequisites Required Knowledge Basic knowledge of SAP systems Interest in technological issues Course Goals This course will prepare the participant to: Use the complete functionality of the NWBC Personalize the NWBC Define role based NWBC navigation elements Configure user independent NWBC settings Access NWBC programmatically Course Objectives After completing this course, the participant will be able to: Use all navigation features, quick launch, and search functions Configure system connections and search providers Personalize the NWBC design Activate the services necessary to run the NWBC Maintain roles in transaction PFCG and assign these roles to system users Adapt the role settings to define the desired navigation structure Implement object based navigation (OBJ) for applications displayed by the NWBC Generate external startup URLs for the NWBC 2015 SAP SE. Unit 1 Understanding the Technical Background Unit Overview This unit provides insight in the technical background of the NWBC. Lesson: NWBC - Overview Describe the NWBC flavors Describe the dependencies between the NWBC, the back-end system, and other front-end software components. Unit 2 Getting started with NWBC Unit Overview This unit describes how the NWBC is used from an end user point of view. In this context, basic terms related to the NWBC are introduced. Lesson: Starting NWBC and accessing your SAP Systems Create NWBC connections used to log on to ABAP-based systems. Create NWBC connections used to log on to SAP NetWeaver Portals. Lesson: Using NWBC Functionality Use the functionality of the NWBC 2015 SAP SE. All rights reserved. 2

Unit 3 Defining NWBC Navigation Elements Unit Overview In this unit, the definition of NWBC navigation elements is discussed. In ABAP systems, NWBC navigation elements are based on roles that are defined by transaction PFCG and that are assigned to system users. Depending on the role settings, the navigation elements are rendered differently. Lesson: Maintaining PFCG Roles Define, copy, and change PFCG roles Assign PFCG roles to users Lesson: Adjusting the Navigation Structure Define default pages Define service maps Define link collections Configure a single top level navigation hierarchy Define additional menus and additional items in existing menus Lesson: Setting up Object-Based Navigation (OBN) Describe the OBN mechanism Define a role menu item that couples applications via OBN 2015 SAP SE. Unit 4 Configuring the NWBC Unit Overview This unit covers configuration aspects of the NWBC. This includes the configuration of the client software and central settings on the connected SAP system. Unit 5 Accessing the NWBC externally Unit Overview This unit explains how the NWBC can be started externally (example: by a link embedded in an e-mail).
