FARM UMBRELLA LIABILITY UNDERWRITING AND RATING GUIDE COVERAGE LIMIT $2,000,000 ELIGIBILITY 1. Policy may be issued to an individual farmer, a farm partnership, or a farm family corporation. 2. Underlying Automobile Liability and Farmowners or Farmers Comprehensive Personal Liability coverage must be written by Germantown Mutual. 3. Motor vehicle reports (MVR s). New Business: MVR s are obtained on all new business. Renewal: The Company will obtain violation data through a third party vendor. This vendor will provide violation data provided to them by state agencies responsible for accumulating such data on all drivers insured by the Company. This information is supplied to the Company four months prior to the renewal of the risk to allow sufficient time to underwrite the account. 4. No policy may be bound by the agent without authorization from the Company. Each applicant or application must be approved by the Company prior to binding umbrella coverage. 5. A signed personal umbrella application must be completed for all new risks. The Farm Umbrella Renewal Questionnaire must be completed and signed every three years for the renewal of each risk. 6. Primary coverages not written by Germantown Mutual will be written in insurance companies with a Best s rating of B+ or better. Any driver not eligible under Germantown Mutual s current personal or commercial auto underwriting guidelines. D. Any driver who has been convicted of reckless driving or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs within the last 10 years or as limited by state law. E. Any driver with more than two moving violations or at fault accidents in a three year period. 7. Professional politicians and elected or appointed officials (not including town assemblymen, city counsel members or selectmen for towns less than 10,000). 8. Public lecturers. 9. Newspaper reporters, editors, or publishers. 10. Labor leaders. 11. Professional entertainers including athletes and radio and television announcers and telecasters or others who are in the public lime light. 12. Any person who has been sued for libel and slander. Persons who represent a moral hazard. 13. Law enforcement officials (not including judges, bailiffs, correction officers, probation officers, fire personnel or state/town inspectors). 14. Business pursuits other than the classifications listed in the Premium Computation section of this Guide. 15. Home Day Care exposures involving more than six or as prescribed by state law. 16. Risks with more than eight rental dwellings. 17. Bed and breakfast exposures. Unless the following conditions have been met: A. Each risk shall be inspected by the Company. B. 18. Risks with: A. pools with diving boards or slides; B. trampolines; C. unfenced pools; or D. skateboard ramps. 19. Lead poisoning and mold exposures. 20. Farms with another operation on premise which produces a greater income than farming. 21. Farm/ranch operations with gross income exceeding $4,500,000 annually. 22. Any risk in which the underlying policy contains restrictive endorsements or exclusions, such as animal liability, that would cause the umbrella policy to drop to provide primary coverage. 23. Farm operations involved in manufacturing or processing of products by the insured for sale to others (including grain elevators). This exclusion does not apply to dairy farms or to such operations as bunching of vegetables or crating of berries. 24. Race horse farms. 25. Risks with over 15% of farm income in custom farming receipts. However, custom farming receipts cannot exceed $50,000. 26. Resort or Dude ranches. 27. Farms engaged in the business of the transportation of anhydrous ammonia, L.P.G., L.N.G, highly flammable, explosive, or caustic chemicals or gases on public highways. 28. Guided annual hunting lease receipts greater than $20,000 or involving more than 4 hunters. 29. Commercial Operations: A. Hatcheries and Poultry (Layer or Broiler) operations. B. Livestock feedlots when not incidental to a farming operation. C. Greenhouses. D. Mushroom Farms. E. Commercial fertilizer exposures including application, blending, mixing or storage. 30. Corporate Farms, Partnerships and Contract Farm Operations where the owner contracts with other farmers to use his farm machinery to harvest their crops. 31. Farm operations with trucks regularly traveling outside a 200 mile radius. 32. Farm operations with trucks involved in transporting of any goods or products for others except on a neighborly exchange basis. 33. The effective date of the endorsement to the underlying auto policy must be the same dates as the renewal dates of the PUL Policy. If the insured rejects the UM &/or UIM coverage, we will endorse the underlying auto back to the previous limits.
