Sometimes you ll have immediate exponential results and sometimes you ll realize the benefits of your extra effort much farther down the road. Take 5 minutes each meeting to recognize the work of members Review the goals you have set for your organization each week and evaluate the progress you have made; develop action steps for the coming week that will get you closer to accomplishing them Check-in with each officer, chair, or committee head to see how things are going, compliment them on their hard work, or offer help Talk with a member you haven t met or don t know well; find out what they re interested in; the next time a project or task comes up that aligns with their interests, ask them to help Create one extra opportunity each month for members to get to know each other and cultivate relationships Invite one faculty or staff member to each meeting to help introduce them to your organization, thank them for what they do, and ask for advice on a challenging problem or issue Ask to attend the meeting of one new organization each week and discover possibilities for cooperation and collaboration December 4, 2012 212º - The Extra Degree 32 You may not always be able to turn up the heat and hit the boiling point, but that doesn t mean you shouldn t make an attempt. 211 can serve a purpose but 212 is the extra degree.
